Can I Wear An Eye Patch While Driving To Correct Double Vision
Will wearing an eyepatch suppress double vision? I suffered a concussion recently and have double vision, will wearing an eyepatch help?
Yes, eyepatch helps: Double vision can arise from head injury if the eye muscle, nerve, or housing (orbit) has been damaged. Accurate diagnosis is needed, so see an opthamologist ASAP. Eye patches, alternated every 15-30 minutes will control this annoying symptom but not fix the problem. Tincture of time, Botox, fresnel lenses, muscle strengthening or orbital repair all can fix depending on cause ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Can wearing an eye patch, closing one eye, improve vision and minor eye lag/lazy eye in other eye? How much training would it take to improve
Possibly: If you had patching when you were an infant and a young child, then your eyes (each alone) may have reached their best potential vision by age eight. The vision can then drop in one of the eyes and be brought up to its best 8 year old level when you are older. If the vision was poor by age eight, then you are out of luck. ...Read more
I wear monovision contacts and lose some depth perception when driving. Is it possible to wear glasses over the contacts to improve this when driving?
Is wearing weaker prescription glasses for when I am on the computer a bad thing to do? I'm nearsighted but I still need glasses to see the computer
Not bad: You don't need your full correction to see the computer. As long as you are comfortable in them and you are seeing the computer screen well, then you should be fine. Don't use someone else's glasses ad they might have astigmatism or prism correction that you don't need. Take care. ...Read more

Maybe!: Is it gradually getting blurry, sudden, intermittent? Your sight should not get blurry while wearing the correct prescription, unless they become dry, you are trying to do close work and you need add power to focus the sight, they are not your spectacles, possibly you have diabetes and the prescription is changing due to blood sugar changes. ...Read more
After eye exam, doctor suggested that I wear eye glasses all the time (for nearsightedness) is this true? I want to wear in school & driving only.
It's your choice: Your doctor's suggestion might have been based on the degree of your nearsightedness. Perhaps he felt you would appreciate seeing better. I think it would be fine to wear them when you feel you need to see better. Don't be surprised if you end up wearing them more and more as you appreciate the improvement in your vision. By doing it this way, your adjustment may be easier. ...Read more
Difficult: You can tape it on, but kids don't like that and will remove it. You can fabricate a fun patch with a design with a little sewing talent and an elastic cord. There are commercial patches like 'opticlude' which can provide good occlusion. In all cases the child will be unhappy with the loss of vision from the better eye so it requires effort on the part of the parents and child. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

What will my vision be after lasik surgery? I am severely nearsighted and currently wear glasses that correct my vision to nearly 20/20. I am concerned that laser eye surgery will not be able to restore my vision to that level. Can lasik return my vision
If : If your ophthalmologist feels that you qualify for lasik surgery, then there is a good chance that you will reach the 20/20 level after lasik surgery, as over 90% of patients undergoing lasik reach 20/20 after surgery. However, not everyone qualifies for lasik (especially those patients with high levels of nearsightedness such as over -10.0 d) and not everyone achieves 20/20 vision. My advice would be to have your eyes evaluated and then ask your surgeon to give you an estimate of what your particular chances are for reaching 20/20. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
What is eye accommodative spasm? Had lasik for myopia. Can see small print, but distance vision goes blurry after computer. Any fix for this?
"Stiff Focusing": Accomodative inertia/spasm. As we get older, the flexible lens in our eye that is responsible for focusing at various distances becomes "stiff". Many patients as they reach age 40 will notice that it takes more effort to see at near. Some who can muster enough focusing power for near work will have trouble relaxing their focusing muscles to see at distance. Frequent breaks/ weak reading glasses. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
