Rhizotomy yesterday. Using ice and Aleve (naproxen) to help with pain. Can I also use a TENS machine?
What can I use at home to help with hemorides? Are there any home remedies that i can do or use from home to help with the discomfort and pain?
Sitz bath: You could get a sitz bath or improvise. A sitz bath enables to sit in a bowel of warm water for an extended period of time. The warm water helps the hemrroids to shrink back in and relieves the discomfort. Avoid adding any salts like epsom salt or table salt as this may burn or irritate the area. Pure aloe vera gel can also help. These would work for external hemrroids. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Want to know can I use triamcinolone acetonide cream 0.1% to help with the itching and pain from my hemorrhoids.
Be careful!: I am not sure what a "home chemical" is but i would be very careful in applying anything to this area without guidance from your dermatologist for the treatment of wrinkles. Some of the nicotinamide products will cause plumping but not removal. ...Read more
What benefit, if any, is there in using a TENS Unit hand held device to try to decrease back pain? Prescribed by MD.
For some, less pain: It doesn't 'correct' the cause of the pain, but for some it does reduce their pain. The stimulation seems to 'confuse' the nerve endings and they send fewer, weaker pain messages to the brain. Nerves may be unable to handle multiple signals and this over-rides the pain. ...Read more
As the day processes i need to free off my back and crack it to try and illeviate some pressure. Only yoga regularly seems to work. Help please.
Back pain: Sounds like you have your answer with yoga. You can augment your results by doing a neutral spine core strengthening program such as described by dr. Mcgill. This includes placks and bird dog positions as well as "pull ins". Videos available on youtube. Also helpful is making sure that the flexibility or your quads and hamstrings are symmetric front and back, right and left. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Common sense remedy: Gentle stretching, hot or cold packs to the affected area and of course, if necessary, nsaids such as ibuprofen. Longterm use of omega 3 fatty acids has been shown to act as an anti- inflammatory and may result in decreased pain. Exercise has been shown to diminish uncomfortable physical and psychological menstrual symptoms. If your back ache is not helped by these things, consult your doc. ...Read more
What can I do to help with the pain of contractions? Can i place a heating pad on myself? Would it help?
Assuming they would work, where can I put TENS electrodes to help with opiate-induced constipation? Which nerves stimulate peristalsis?
Physiology, Marilyn: You've got 2 things wrong: Gut muscle is smooth not striated muscle, & peristalsis is intrinsic to the gut, maintained by myenteric plexuses throughout the intestinal walls. Sympathetic NS stimulates it & parasympathetic NS inhibits it. There isn't any one nerve that controls peristalsis. For more information consult any basic physiology textbook. ...Read more

Omega 3 oils: Omega 3 fatty acids will reduce the inflammatory response, so if the joints are inflamed the good sources are fish and fish oil, evening primrose oil an others. These will not do it promptly-it takes weeks to months to replace fatty acids on the cell wall which are involved in the inflammatory response. No oil ingested will "lubricate" the joints. ...Read more
Can Vicks vapo-rub be used for scars and muscle soreness relief, or do I need to buy something else?
What can I do to relieve the pain from mild scoliosis aside from using a fabric brace and doing physical therapy?
I have apo-cuclobenzaprine 10mg for my back, can i use this medication to help with the pain relief of hemorhoids and fissure?
Pain relief: I am sorry to know that you are having pain today. While cyclobenzaprine is a muscle relaxant, it is unlikely to help your hemorrhoid pain. I would recommend Analpram which is a hydrocortisone treatment that will treat the hemorrhoid pain at the source. Cyclobenzaprine can also have other side effects, and is unlike to work as well as Analpram does. Contact your doctor for additional recommend. ...Read more
Alters circulation: Hot baths can cause superficial vasodilatation which increases blood supply to the superficial tissues and muscles. Muscle soreness and overuse strains may be helped to resolve by hot bands. This is due to the enhanced blood supply and circulatory exchanges of nutrients that occur. Don't stay in too long, as that can cause a drop in blood pressure or cause dizziness. ...Read more
They are crooks: If you go to an enema parlor, you will be seen by a kindly, unhurried practitioner who will make you feel very comfortable, tell you things that aren't true ("toxic bowel settlement" and so forth), and reassure you that the treatment will greatly improve your health and that you had better keep coming back. Don't get involved with these people. ...Read more

Stay away from enema: Sounds like someone want to flush out the colon using water. This,is,also, called an enema. I do not believe this is helpful and frown on my patients using coffee or lemon water cleanses, due to,the dangers of injury to bowel, tissue.
