Pregnancy (Definition)

When your due date arrives, you will be more than ready to have your baby! Most women deliver the baby somewhere between 37 and 42 weeks. According to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, only 5% of babies arrive on the exact due date. Approximately 7% of babies are not delivered by 42 weeks, and when that happens, it is referred to ...Read more

14w pregnant. Vit only has 400 iu vit D3 I don't get too much from diet or sun. Do I need more? What's the impact to baby of too low?

YES!!! Many impacts!: Good question. Adults need 5-8000 iu of vit d to achieve optimal levels in fall ; winter (year-round if you don't get mid-day sun). Low vit d in pregnancy is associated with increased risk of gestational diabetes, preeclampsia ; babies with low birth-weight. See http://www. Medpagetoday. Com/obgyn/pregnancy/38113
it is safe ; wise to take an additional 5000 iu of vit d3. ...Read more

Missed first pill of new pack - took second one late. Missed Sat of that week and Sun of wk 2. Can I get pregnant? Boyfriend never pulls out

May surprise you but: Even if you take every pill of every pack every day on time and your boyfriend ALWAYS pulls out....you can STILL get pregnant. Now, how much more risk do you think you run under your scenario? Much more is the answer. The point is that the only way to be 100% certain of no pregnancy is to avoid sex or for BOTH to be surgically sterilized. Questions? Www. Healthtap. Com/drsaghafi Key Code: PDXFNR ...Read more

I am 6 weeks pregnant is it ok to swim in the beach and be out on the sun for a week?!

Being Pregnant: Yes. Of course. I would advise you like most obs and other who care for women that you get a prenatal book to read. Many obs will give you tis as part of your care. Having a pregnancy guide will help you feel more empowered and to understand the variety of things that occur during pregnancy and what to expect. Good luck with the baby. ...Read more

Had unprotected sex, fri night, sat and sun and I just took a postinor and might be ovulating today how likely will I get pregnant?

Had unprotected sex, fri night, sat and sun and I just took a postinor and might be ovulating today how likely will I get pregnant?

NO speculation: Doctors don't game risk or speculate. Ever. Especially about diagnosing pregnancy. It surely sounds like you are at great risk since you took emergency contraception well after the time frame that would have been effective. Remember sperm cause pregnancy from one to five days after intercourse. If you don't prevent the pregnancy then emergency contraception does not work. ...Read more

Is it okay to sun-bathe or use tanning beds while pregnant?

Is it okay to sun-bathe or use tanning beds while pregnant?

UV and pregnancy: There have been no controlled studies of the direct effects of tanning or tanning beds on pregnant women or their unborn child. In view of the evidence of damage from ultraviolet radiation to the skin of the mother, however, it makes sense to avoid this type of activity for the duration of pregnancy. However, research on pregnant mice showed fetal damage. ...Read more

I took norethersione back on 10th dec had one bleed since, my peroid was due sun 12th done test both negative but no peroid! Am I pregnant?

Trust the test: Home pregnancy tests are very accurate. They are the same tests used in a doctor's office. They can detect a pregnancy 7-10 days after conception. The best time to take one is when you miss your period. If you doubt the result you can repeat it in 1-2 days. If you were pregnant the hormone level would rise enough for detection. ...Read more

I had vit D deficiency a month ago so was taking 3000 iu daily. I also got sun exposure that time. If I'm pregnant this month can this dose be toxic?

No: Hi. No, under no circumstance could that dose of vitamin D be toxic. Vitamin D toxicity is a myth unless you're taking the hormonally active form of vitamin D (calcitriol, a.k.a. 1, 25-dihydroxyvitamin D). Calcitriol production in the body is very tightly regulated (except in a few disease states), and you can load up on vitamin D but your body will NOT overproduce the active form, calcitriol. ...Read more

Period came early had spotting at night on a thurs then fri woke up and was like a normal period but ended on a sun could I b pregnant?

Period came early had spotting at night on a thurs then fri woke up and was like a normal period but ended on a sun could I b pregnant?

Maybe not, but...: A urine pregnancy test, done correctly, gives a reliable result 3 weeks after sex (3 weeks after when conception might have occurred), or 1 week after missing a period. If done sooner, a positive result is likely real, but a negative result may be due to testing too soon, and thus lead to a repeat test. If a woman gets her normal regular period next cycle, then she is not pregnant. ...Read more

Normal: That early on in the pregnancy, they won't see anything because it still needs more time to develop. This is a normal finding.
You will get another ultrasound in the future that will yield more details of the pregnancy.
