Cut finger on dirty fork in dishwasher yesterday, very slightly red today, no pain really, don't want it to get infected, can I use mupirocin cream?

Cut finger on dirty fork in dishwasher yesterday, very slightly red today, no pain really, don't want it to get infected, can I use mupirocin cream?

Low risk: The chance of infection from this sort of cut is low, especially is the fork did not penetrate deeply. If there was any detergent in the water, the risk is even lower. Even a trace amount of common dishwashing detergent would kill most infection-causing bacteria. I don't think you need mupirocin; just keep the wound clean. ...Read more

I cut my pinky its swollen with white to yellow dots and abscesses. Do I use mupirocin cream AFTER its already infected or use an oral amoksicillin?

I cut my pinky its swollen with white to yellow dots and abscesses. Do I use mupirocin cream AFTER its already infected or use an oral amoksicillin?

TooMuchMoxyForAmoksi: What, you have mupirocin & amoxixillin laying around unused? Well, then, firstly amoxicillin probably will not work for a skin infection & secondly, for an established infection of the skin, unless it is very superficial (like impetigo)it probably won't penetrate far enough to help much. You can try it, but don't hold your breath. With what you call"abscesses, "you best see a doc and get the proper care ...Read more

Am using bactroban (mupirocin) for skin rashes from which some fluid comes after a cut on toe. Was wondering if I put neosporin powder over bactroban (mupirocin) will it harm?

1) there is no: Point in doing that.
2) I would recommend you see a doctor. It sounds like you are self doctoring. The reason is it sounds like you have an infection and then you say a rash. So there may be two problems. If your not getting better with the bactroban (mupirocin) you may need an oral antibiotic. ...Read more
