Hi goodevening! For my baby's drinking water, can i use mineral water instead of distilled water? Thank you in advance and godbless.
Not recommended: Mineral water may contain levels of sodium or other chemicals that are difficult for young kidneys to deal with. By 2 years of age, this is likely no longer a concern. Distilled does not have any of those problems, but remember that the child requires fluoride supplementation. ...Read more
Is it ok to give a 3 wk newborn an ounce of water to help with bowel movements? And if so, nursery water or bottle water?
No: Never give a baby water at this age! Water intoxication can happen in even small amounts. Think of it this way, formula and breast milk have just the right amount of sodium ( or "salt") in them. When you give a tiny baby water without the proper mix of salt, it drops the relative concentration of sodium in the bloodstream, causing seizures. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
What is the best water to use to prepare my 6 mo old baby formula? Tap water, bottled, or tap water that has been boiled?
Depends: If you live in a city with an approved water supply, and are confident about the plumbing in your home to drink it yourself, use tap water. If you have a well, and it passes tests for impurities+good plumbing, it is fine.If your plumbing has sediment or adds a funny taste, city water is not that great, or have untested well water, boil and or use bottled. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Is it okay/healthy to continue giving distilled water to my 8 month with her feedings? We use arrowhead mountin spring water and they offer distilled water as well. Do babies meed flouride in their water?
Yes & yes: A water supplement is certainly ok for kids of any age. Distilled preparations do not have Fluoride & many bottled waters do not either.Fluoride would help baby form stronger enamel while they are building their teeth so it would be reasonable to make sure baby attained it in some form.Check with your doc about supplements if needed. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
Should I give my 19 month old nursery water to drink or just use tap water? Does my tap water have enough flouride? We have city water.
Use Nursery water: Nursery water is distilled water that is also fortified with a small amount of Fluoride (you can also get Fluoride free variety). This water is purified for drinking by babies and does not contain harmful bacteria, parasites, or heavy metals that can be found in city/tap or well water. Should be used until age 12 months. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Depends: The powdered formula is designed to mix with any approved source of regular tap water. You do not have to buy "baby water" sold in stores. If you are comfortable about the safety of your home tap water it is fine for formula use. Ready to feed formulas should not be diluted with water. If your area or house has rusty pipes and questionable water, use bottled water instead. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Can a newborn baby use purified water, that had been opened and unrefrigerated for 4 days, to mix formula?
Weekly,: There is no perfect answer for this. From my own experience, it works to wash the bottles after every use with soap and water, and once a week I would boil/sterilize all of the bottles. I hope this helps. Good luck and enjoy your little one. ...Read more
How often sterilize baby bottles?. And can i wash them with soap? What kind? Baby is almost 6 weeks old. Btw tap water where i live is not so clean.
Yes. Add sugar: Your baby must be well enough to suck and swallow. Sugar water is highly recommended for infant dehydration. Starch requires digestion. Simple sugar is faster. A pinch of salt or baking soda is also helpful. You may place drops of sugar water on the tongue or under the tongue. Then help your baby suck from a bottle that you have made. If this seems ineffective, take your baby to a clinic ...Read more
