Can I Use Glycolic Acid With Retinol
Vitamin A helps form and maintain healthy teeth, skeletal and soft tissue, mucous membranes, and skin. It is also known as retinol because it produces the pigments in the retina of the eye. Vitamin A promotes good vision, especially in low light. It may also be needed ...Read more
I want to use a glycolic acid cleanser followed by a salicylic toner followed by a retinol serum. How much time should I leave in between?
Let it dry.: Be sure you dilute and remove all of the glycolic and let skin dry completely before applying the salicylic. You may get irritation with retinol over the salicylic, so best to let it dry first and if so, don't use them together. You could use a hair dryer on cool to make this quicker. Good luck! ...Read more

Can someone with sensitive skin use retinol, glycolic acid or vit C? How do you know if you've got sensitive skin?
Tretinoin (Retinol), glycolic acid, and vitamin C can all be harsh to the skin. It is best to try a test patch on a small area of the skin; the back of the hand, to determine how sensitive you skin is to each type of product. Vitamin C and glycolic acid may not be as harsh as tretinoin.
Remember to use a moisturizing agent as well to help keep the skin from dehydration. Apply sparingly. ...Read more

Is it better to combine vit C or retinol with 25% Glycolic Acid? Which percentage? I've got adult acne and combination skin
Retinol: Retinol is a vitamin A derivative, as is Retin A (tretinoin) which is helpful for many types of acne. I would also see a dermatologist, as there are many prescription products which may be more helpful. Hormonal imbalances are fairly common in adult acne and this should also be addressed. ...Read more
Should I layer on my glycolic acid face moisturizer or should I just use it for night time? Can you layer vitamin C serum whith a retinol serum? Tyvm
I don't think: It matters if you use the glycolic acid in the morning or night application, but most would advise you use your retinol/Retin-A the opposite time of day. Many find the glycolic acid too drying/peeling for use during day (peeling looking skin). I recommend avoiding vitamin C serum at the same time as retinol; consider using the vitamin C every 2-3 days in place of glycolic acid. Good wishes:) ...Read more

Which is better for wrinkles on your face Glycolic Acid, Retin A, (tretinoin) Retinol or a combination of two of them. Like one at night one in morning. Tyvm?
Retin a (tretinoin): Most likely just retin A (tretinoin) ut check with your dermatologist. I think just retina A is enough over long term and low dose at first for wrinkles. Other is just add on. Never smoke this kills all the skin, not too much sun but 15 -30min. Only/day, Use face sunscreen. ...Read more
Which is better for wrinkles on your face Retin A, (tretinoin) Glycolic Acid or a product containing Retinol. I'm confused. Tyvm?
They are all beneficial but are different. They stimulate skin to rapidly exfoliate, make new smoother skin and stimulate collagen&elastin. Tretinoin and Retinol come from Vit. A.
Retin A:brand of Tretinoin, best effect, mostirritation, Script only.
Retinol :midpotency, midirritant, OTC
Glycolic acid is from Sugar. Lesser exfoliation and improvement of collagen&elastin, OTC, better for dry skin ...Read more
If I'm using a glycolic gel on my face can I layer it with a serum that contains retinol. Can I also use other moisturizers with it. Tyvm?
Do not combine: Don't combine glycolic acid with a retinol. The glycolic acid will break down the retinol product. Really it's the retinol which has the best effects in terms of helping prevent wrinkles. Glycolic acid is great for a gentle peel but it will destabilize the retinol, so you'll just be wasting money by neutralizing the retinol. ...Read more

Retinoic acid: Both compounds are in the "retinoid" family of drugs. However, they have very different properties. Retinol is not nearly as effective as retinoic acid for acne, facial wrinkling, etc. Retin-a is the most famous of the retinoic acid compounds, but equally effective and cheaper generic products are also available. ...Read more

Greetings. I have premature wrinkles, can I apply retinol and hyaluronic acid together? If so which will I apply first, the former or latter?
Both can be used: These agents can be used together. Hyaluronic Acid (HA) is used to optimize and retain skin moisture. Retinol and other Retin compounds facilitate the rapid turnover of cells promoting re epithelialization which can even skin tone and soften wrinkles with collagen stimulation. Retin compounds can cause dryness, and application should ideally be followed with use of a moisturizer such as HA. ...Read more
Can refined sweet almond oil be used over glyc acid or retinol to prevent redness and help hydratation? I read that this oil helps exfoliate the skin
Not alone: Almond oil alone isn't an exfoliant which "removes dead skin cells" that requires the addition of either an acid (like glycolic or alpha hydroxy which chemically remove cells) or mechanical means (like sugar, salt, walnut shell). It is an emollient which "hydrates" and softens skin and may reduce redness. Retinols work at a molecular level to alter skin thickness, pigmentation and collagen. ...Read more
I used a retinol cream two nights ago, and the next day I used a 4% salicylic acid and 2.5% bp cream on my face. I've been using all these products for a while with no reactions, however I've been sick and taking cold medicine, and noticed my skin is more
Question cut off: Although the end of your question was cut of, I'm going to take a guess that you're wondering if the change in your skin has anything to do with your cold medicine. The answer is NO. However, if I'm off the mark, please resubmit your question more succinctly so that we can review all the pertinent information. ...Read more

I've been using a retinol cream for acne for about a month and its made acne worse. Is retinol bad for acne but retinoic acid good for acne?
Depends: Retinoic acid is good for an acne (but it used in more severe cases). Sometimes just cleansing the skin with peroxide and antibiotic ointment afterwards can do the trick in not complicated cases or it can be added to your current medication in more severe cases. Check with your doc or consult a dermatologist. If your are a female, get an oral contraception (pills). ...Read more

Which ingredient is the best way fight wrinkles? Retinol, peptides, collagen, stem cells, plancenta, amino acids or vitamin C
Growth factors: We have known since the 70s that retinoids and retinols are great collagen stimulators (which equals wrinkle fighters). In this century, we developed collagen growth factors which are derived from actual human skin and are necessary for collagen to thrive, thus reducing and eliminating wrinkles. Note I did not say "appearance of wrinkles". Skinmedica is my favorite product to contain these. ...Read more
I suffer from severe itchycheek acne with pimples, black heads and sometimes cystic acne. I have tried salicylic acid, benzoyl peroxide and retinol A.
See a dermatologist: Your acne is a function of hormones. Certain birth control can make it better, other birth control can make it worse. Do you have normal menstrual cycles? You will probably do well with oral spironolactone and topical tretinoin. This usually works in 3 months, then is continued. If it fails, oral isotretinoin will rescue you. ...Read more
Skin rejuvenation: Retinol, as well as other skin treatments like alpha-hydroxy acids and vitamin c, all work to increase "skin turnover." your skin cells are constantly regenerating and sloughing off. This "turnover" slows as we age. That's why a baby heals a cut so fast and senior citizens take weeks to heal a skin injury. Retinol speeds the regeneration process, giving your skin a fresh, younger look. ...Read more
