Can I Use Afrin And Sudafed Together
Yes, but: I recommend that my patients use afrin for an absolute maximum of 5 days if indicated. Sudafed is ok to use at the same time, as long as you have no medical contraindications to using it ( heart problems, high blood pressure, etc). See your doctor if your nasal congestion symptoms are not improved within 5 days of use of either medication. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
I am flying for the first time, is it okay to take sudafed with afrin (oxymetazoline)? If so how soon should I use booth before the plane takes off and lands?
No: Both medications are considered decongestants, so you only want to take one or the other, not both. If you take the sudafed, i would take it about 30 minutes prior to flying. If you use the afrin, (oxymetazoline) it tends to start working fairly quickly, so 5-10 minutes prior to flying should be adequate. ...Read more
I took Sudafed, Flonase and Afrin (oxymetazoline) but getting no relief for allergy congestion, can I take Claritin on top of the other meds?
Afrin (oxymetazoline)?: You need to see an expert to determine the cause of the congestion and confirm that it is related to allergy. If you have been taking Afrin (oxymetazoline) for more than 5 days consecutively, then the persistent congestion is most likely now caused by the Afrin (oxymetazoline) (it causes sensitization and "rebound congestion"). Claritin can be added safely, but it may not be effective if underlying issue not addressed ...Read more
I have eustachian tube dysfunction & am taking sudafed and afrin (oxymetazoline). How long will it take to clear up and when will the ringing in ears take to clear up?
On day5 of a nasty cold. Cannot breathe out of my nose at all, smell or taste! Lots of pressure in head & ears. Sudafed & Afrin not helping. Any sugg?
I still get a stuffy nose , I have used flonase, sudafed, claritin, saline spray, I have been off afrin (oxymetazoline) for over a month now, what else can I do?
See your doctor: There are a couple of other medications he can try. If these do not work you may need to see an allergist for allergy testing. ...Read more
I have a horrible headache from sinus pressure I tried afrin nose spray and Benadryl (diphenhydramine) at night. I feel terrible? Would I benefit more from sudafed?
Maybe: It would be better to see some one for your problem. Afrin spray and benadryl (diphenhydramine) or not the best remedies for sinus complaints. Sudafed may help better, but you should see your physician to make sure that you are treating the right problem. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Will afrin (oxymetazoline) nose spray work as well as sudafed po with less risk of increased heart rate for opening up my sinuses and eustachian tubes?
Deeply clogged sinuses, left ear pressure for 5 days. Used OTC sudafed and mucinex (guaifenesin) and Afrin, nothing is loosening mucous, no fever no swelling?
Tincture of time: Tincture of time. Use a humidifier or vaporizer. Take long showers or -- very carefully -- breathe in steam from a pot on the stove. Drink lots of fluids, which will thin out your mucus and may help prevent your sinuses from getting blocked up. Use a nasal saline spray – simple unmedicated salt water – to help prevent your nasal passages from drying out. ...Read more

My 30 yo wife has a cold. She's on 300mg Effexor XR & 5mg Abilify (aripiprazole). She's normotensive (~110/65). Can she take both pseudoephedrine & Afrin for 3 days?
Yes: You can take them together. Allegra (fexofenadine) 24 hour is a nonsedating antihistamine and Sudafed PE is a decongestant. This would be similar to taking allegra (fexofenadine) D. What you do not want to do is take Allegra (fexofenadine) D with sudafed, then you would get too much decongestant. Also you want to avoid decongestants if you have certain conditions like hypertension. Also don't take the sudafed at bedtime. ...Read more
It Depends: Unfortunately, there are mult versions of Nyquil. Some contain the active ingredient in Sudafed (usually actually Sudafed PE which is phenylephrine). Other's do not. When it comes to OTC the counter meds it is as confusing and dangerous as if not more than prescriptions meds. Talk to your doc or pharmacist about the right product(s) for your specific needs and poss interaction with your presc meds ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
