2 different things: Spotting is blood from the uterus, and likely is unrelated to the bv. If you are still having symptoms, it's possible that the medication you were given to treat the BV didn't work against the strain of bacteria that you have. You can ask doctor for repeat dose, or for a culture. Sometimes women get yeast on top of a bacterial infection. White blood cells are present for both, typically. ...Read more

Maybe: Some women treat BV with Metronidazole as a vaginal insert or as an oral pill. Other women swear by probiotics. There's no harm in trying the probiotics. If they don't work, then return to doctor for rx. I had a patient that used an OB tampon and covered it in plain yogurt and swore this cured her bv.
