Recently had and treated yeast infection with Monistat. I went to my GYN and she prescribed a vaginal form of Metrizidanole due to my reaction 2 the antibiotic. She asked if I used it before and I said yes thinking I had. Will this give me vertigo 2?

No: Not enough metronidazole is absorbed from vagina to cause vertigo. It is not a common effect from oral use, either, unless you are foolish enough to use alcoholic drink at the same time. This is not a treatment for yeast. It is used for bacterial vaginosis (strong fishy odor) and trichomonas [watery, itchy discharge]. ...Read more

I think I got a yeast infection from my UTI antibiotic. Should I wait to use Monistat until I'm done with the the antibiotic or can I use it now?

No need to wait: You can start it any time. However, best to first discuss it with the doctor treating your UTI. Also, you may want to consider oral fluconazole (Diflucan). A single pill by mouth is just as effective as a few days of vaginal Monistat or other creams. It's also available over the counter. Many women find it more convenient. Good luck. ...Read more

I took Monistat 1 (tioconazole) yesterday to treat a yeast infection. I had pink discharge yesterday and today I am spotting blood is this normal?

Other problem? STD?: Vaginal yeast usually doesn't bleed or cause pink discharge, both of which suggest the diagnosis is wrong, or that you also have something else. At your age, the main causes of vaginal bleeding and discharge are STDs, especially gonorrhea or chlamydia. There are several other possibilities too, and all new or abnormal, vaginal discharge or bleeding needs professional exam. See your doctor ASAP. ...Read more

I used monistat 1 (tioconazole) to treat a yeast infection 4 days ago and I still have some itching and discharge. Is this normal? Should I use another treatment?

You could...: Try another 1 day treatment.....or you could see your doctor for confirmation that it's a yeast infection and get a dose of Diflucan (fluconazole) which works very well at eradicating yeast infections in one shot; or if you prefer a prescription cream that works a bit better than the OTC Monistat. Best wishes to you. ...Read more

I had yeast infection which I treated with Monistat 7. Am 90% better but still some symptoms. Can I treat it again? I don't want to take oral pill

OK to re-treat: You might just wait a couple of weeks. If "90% better", it is likely your symptoms will clear entirely. If not, you can treat again. If still doesn't clear entirely, you'll need to get professional care. But why so concerned about oral treatment (e.g. Diflucan)? Do you think that somehow a medication is different or less risky when put in your vagina versus swallowing? Nonsense. ...Read more

I had a yeast infection diagnosed by my dr. But it keeps coming back I self treated with monistat but I still have symptoms what can I do to get rid?

Fluconazole?: Recurrent or persistent yeast infections are fairly common. First check w/ the doctor to confirm the diagnosis of recurrent yeast and get checked for underlying problems that can cause it, especially diabetes. Then ask about the possililty of periodic treatment (usually once a week) with fluconazole (Diflucan) by mouth, which usually is effective in preventing recurrent symptoms. Good luck! ...Read more
