Can I take Zantac (ranitidine) in the morning and tagament at night?

Yes: These are helpful for stomach acidity and have essentially the same effects and side effects. I am not sure why you would do it this way but for simplicity, use up what you have and then pick one to take twice per day in the future. ...Read more

The max dose for Zantac (ranitidine) is 2 150mg pills/day, but my heart burn is terrible and I have already taken 2. Can I take a tagamet on top of those two?

I wouldn't.: If your pain is so severe and is not being quelled by two Zantac (H2 blocker), then I would question whether it is acid reflux. I'd go see a physician. However, you can also consider trial of a proton pump inhibitor like nexium (esomeprazole) instead to see if it helps. I still recommend you seeing your doc. ...Read more

My 8 year old takes 1-75mg of Zantac (ranitidine) everyday is it ok for her to take 2 each day of morning and of night if needed?

CAN BE.....: Up to 75 mg 2 tab can be given usually depending on the diagnosis; e.g. For gastro esophageal reflux disease (gerd) and erosive esophagitis, dose is double of the usual. Anyways, better talk to her pediatrician or GI doc if you want to continue this dose longer. ...Read more

I take Prilosec in morning and Zantac (ranitidine) at bedtime. Zantac (ranitidine) helped at night for a while. But now it isn't. What can I do.

Increase the prilose: You may take an additional Prilosec at bedtime, or see your doctor for a rx strength
medication. An antacid as an additional
medication may also be helpful.

Been having acid reflux problems not sure the cause. 1 150mg of zantac (ranitidine) was working now it's not. Is it OK to take 1 in the morning and 1 at night? A

Reflux: If you're experiencing true acid reflux it's probably more effective to switch to the ppi class of medications like prilosec or nexium (esomeprazole). Don't forget to avoid alcohol, caffeine, nicotine or highly spicey foods. If symptoms persist, consult a gastroenterologist for accurate diagnosis and treatment. ...Read more

Is Dexilant (dexlansoprazole) 60mg in the morning and Zantac 150 at night safe to take and if so for how long?

Safe to take: These two medications inhibit the release of acid in your stomach. The acid does have an important role in digestion. The ppi meds (dexilant) have an adverse effect on calcium absorbtion in the body and therefore can contribute to the development of osteoporosis.
You need to work with your doctor to find out why you are having and what you can do to decrease the gastritis. ...Read more

Is it recommended to take Prilosec in the morning and Zantac (ranitidine) at night for complete acid relief of GERD?

Is it recommended to take Prilosec in the morning and Zantac (ranitidine) at night for complete acid relief of GERD?

See your doctor.: If you are initially treating presumed acid reflux, Prilosec 20 mg once each morning about 20 minutes before eating any food is a good start. If it does not completely relieve your symptoms after two weeks, however, or if they recur after stopping the Prilosec, then I would seek out treatment long term through your family doctor. Anti-reflux measures are important too. Good luck. ...Read more

Doctor says I have Angioedema and hives told me to take Allegra 180mg in morning and Zyrtec10mg at night and Zantac (ranitidine) 150mg does this sound right.

Yes: The use of second generation antihistamines as the ones prescribed to control hives and angioedema is right, use of zantac (ranitidine) is controversial nowadays, however, More important is seeing an allergist/dermatologist for management, trying to find a cause and monitor treatment. If angioedema is causing any respiratory problems, although rare, an epinephrine pen may be needed, check aaaai. Org 4 an allergist ...Read more

Is it okay to take rolaids in between my morning and nightly dose of Zantac (ranitidine) during pregnancy? Just taking Zantac (ranitidine) alone doesn't seem to work.

Is it okay to take rolaids in between my morning and nightly dose of Zantac (ranitidine) during pregnancy? Just taking Zantac (ranitidine) alone doesn't seem to work.

Depends...: What are you treating? If just indigestion, then antacids consumed 1 ; 3 hours after a meal and at bedtime may be helpful in the majority of patients, but may be too high a dose for a pregnant one. Don't know what your zantac (ranitidine) dose is either, ; perhaps with consent from your obstetrician this medication can be optimized. Stick with gerd diet and behavior restrictions (see prior healthtap answers. ...Read more

Dear sir I am taking nexum 40 mg +metronidazole 400 mg in morning and 300 mg Zantac (ranitidine) evening time and 40 mg famotidine at night +metronidazole 400 mg?

Your question...?: Your drug regimen is quite unorthodox--there is no apparent reason to combine two h2 blockers (zantac (ranitidine) and famotidine), nor is it clear what Metronidazole is treating here. Happy to assist, if we know what you're asking & you can provide a little more information please. ...Read more

What can cause vertigo in middle of night. Started at 2am and finally subsided around 7am. I was diagnosed w gastritis about a month ago, take Zantac (ranitidine)?

Can you take prilosec and nexium (esomeprazole) together? Can I take zantac at night after taking prilosec in the afternoon?

Can you take prilosec and nexium (esomeprazole) together? Can I take zantac at night after taking prilosec in the afternoon?

Drug interactions: Prilosec is a brand of generic omeprazole. Nexium is a brand of generic esomeprazole, which is left mirror image of omeprazole. Therefore, you only take one, not both proton pump inhibitors (PPI). Zantac is brand of generic ranitidine, which is an H2 blocker, which isn't as powerful as PPI but can be used in conjunction w/PPI. Try lifestyle modifications to avoid acid reflux: http://goo. Can Zantac (ranitidine) 150mg cause depression? Took yesterday morning and feeling mentally, foggy, dull, tired, and excessive crying over smallest things.

Can Zantac (ranitidine) 150mg cause depression? Took yesterday morning and feeling mentally, foggy, dull, tired, and excessive crying over smallest things.

Reported but rare: Depression has been occasionally reported with Zantac (ranitidine) but usually after taking for several days and more likely in "severely ill elderly patients." So if this was a reaction it is unusual; I wonder if you reacted to the fillers or binders instead of the medicine. This may just be a coincidence but the only way to find out would be to try it again...

If you had to choose between 1 prevacid or 2-4 Zantac (ranitidine) to manage GERD (morning nausea and nausea between meals) for life which would you choose?

GERD: Neither is good for life, chronic acid suppression, especially by ppis like prevacid, (lansoprazole) can create more problems down the line in the stomach. You should consider dietary changes, losing weight and other ways to control your gerd rather than depending on medications at your young age. ...Read more

I have problems swallowing certain foods I take Prilosec 40mg twice a day along with Zantac 300mg at night will a digestive enzyme w/o probiotic help

Globus versus...: A ball or lump sensation in your throat past which you can easily swallow is called "globus"--a functional problem that acid blockers likely won't help. Nor would it likely address esophageal spasm, dysmotility, or eosinophilic esophagitis. Have you had manometry? Might want endoscopy for definitive biopsy +/- address peptic stricture that may constrict the swallowing tube & benefit from dilation. ...Read more

Nausea and dry heaves, gagging sensation a lot, every morning and sometimes after meals. Could this be h pylori? Should I try PPI? Zantac (ranitidine) didn't work

Lots of possibles: Not much of what you have described -- Nausea, heaves, gagging - are things commonly associated with H. pylori associated gastritis or ulcers.
I would recommend a visit with your physician. There are blood tests and possibly imaging or endoscopy that may need to be done to diagnose and appropriately treat this constellation of symptoms. ...Read more
