Can I Take Vitamin D While On Chemotherapy For Breast Cancer
Cancer is a group of diseases that is characterized by uncontrolled cell growth leading to invasion of surrounding tissues that spread to other parts of the body. Cancer can begin anywhere in the body and is usually related to one or more genetic mutations that allow normal cells to become malignant by interfering with internal cellular control mechanisms, such as programmed cell death or by preventing ...Read more
Probably not: The vitamin d3 is supposed to help prevent calcium loss from the bones. The bone loss usually is greatest if antitestosterone drugs are used or if bone is radiated. It will probably not hurt to take the vitamin but its main use is in metastatic disease or if drugs to counter act testosterone are used. Bone density can be easily measured and this will help to determine if it is needed. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

I have lung cancer. I also take cancer pills tarceva (erlotinib). Iam also on heart medisen. Will this be safe for me to take?
Erlotinib: Is a tyrosine kinase inhibitor, dominantly with skin effects, and minor diarrhea. As an egfr active small molecule, i don't know of any interactions with "heart meds" which sure is a broad category. Always best to check with both specialists: oncologist and cardiologist. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Im taking letrozole for breast cancer. My doctor also prescibed vitamin d, mecobalamin and iron tablets. What is the right time to take the calc, vi.
Eat right: You should discuss this with your medical oncologist. It is important to eat right and exercise during chemotherapy, and you can often get everything you need from a diet rich in fruits and vegetables, and low in saturated fats. But be careful taking too many supplements, as some may interfere with the effectiveness of chemotherapy. ...Read more

Yes, and also...: No problem taking b complex and vitamin c while on antibiotics. I also strongly advise zinc, vitamin a & vit. Stage iiib colon cancer, starting chemo tues. Vitamin d 25-hydroxy level is 9 ng/ml. Will taking vitamin D3 supplements help? If so, how many iu?
Possibly help.: There is some evidence that vitamin d deficiency is not desirable in patients with colon cancer. The goal should be to achieve a level of 30 ng/ml. Another vitamin d test should be done after taking 50, 000 units twice a week for 2 months. If you are considerably overweight 2-3 times the dose may be necessary. After achieving 30 ng/ml a daily dose of 1-2000 units may maintain this level. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Should be okay: .. as long as it is a naturally occurring vitamin that would normally exist in the body. If it is artificial, even without knowledge of the exact substance, I would recommend against putting in your body while you are breast-feeding your child. Just know that whatever you are trying to do to help yourself with these vitamins may very well end up working on the infant as well. ...Read more
I have both prostate and breast cancer. Is it ok to take avadart for PC and Tamoxafin for BC at the same time?
Wish I could answer: but this is REALLY a question you should ask your oncologist, who hopefully is coordinating your care. Don't be afraid to ask. It is your life and a legitimate question. Assuming the same person has prescribed both, it is probably OK to take both. However, in general, medication doses should always be separated by at least an hour. Good luck! ...Read more

. My wife took 9 inj doxytaxel+ carboplatin for treatment of breast cancer. And vitamin d level in her is only 8. Pls advice how to get perfect level?
Ask ur doc: Vitamin d deficiency is quite common due to inadequate sun exposure. Although we give steroids with docetaxil but the doses and frequency is not enough to cause metabolic bone disease. Vitamind d deficiency can be corrected by supplement with high doses for few weeks to restore normal levels followed by maintenance doses to keep it at normal level. A calcium supplement should also be used. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
