Prevacid or Prilosec is safet take but ask your OB Doctor if it is ok

Yes: Long term use of ppis such as Prevacid (lansoprazole) has been associated with an increase risk of pneumonia in the elderly and an increase risk of bone fracture in older women. It can theorhetically cause malabsorption of b12, calcium and iron. Supplimenting these is probably adequate to prevent these complications. I started taking Plavix once a day and I also take Prevacid (lansoprazole) and on occasion Prilosec. Is there any interactions with these drugs?
Absolutely: There is a well know interaction between plavix and proton pump inhibitors. Plavix is a prodrug (inactive) and is activated in the liver. This process of activation is blocked by proton oump inhibitors. Specifically with nexium and prilosec, also somewhat with other ppis.
