Either: It is usually recommended that you take the medicine in the morning about an hour before eating. Fasting prior to the dose appears to be more important than whether it is taken in the morning or in the evening. Therefore nighttime is also fine. Hope this helps. ...Read more

I did not take my pill last night 175 mcg of synthroid (thyroxine) so I took it this morning at 10 then tonight I accidentally took two will I be ok?
Should be...oops : (: At 35 y/o if u have no other major med conds u should be fine. Synthroid (thyroxine) builds up slowly and stays a while. Not being perfect on timing is not a major concern. 525mcg in 1 day is a little<1/2 of what is in your body, a pretty big dose. U may feel get a jittery, shaky or have some palps. If sig sx's see your doc! Skip 2 doses & restart as usual. I must add, some try it for wt loss->very unsafe! ...Read more

TSH 4.57 &on 50 mcg synthroid (thyroxine).20 days back TSH was 2.6.Why fluctuated? BMI is 19.7.Take prenatal Vits at night&synthroid (thyroxine) in mrning, breakfast 3 hr later
Trying to conceive taking prenatal vitamins at night and now can't sleep. Have to take at night due to synthroid (thyroxine). Is this normal reaction to prenatals?
Don't take at night!:
This isn't exactly "normal" but not unheard of, as prenatal vits have B complex which can be stimulating & can cause insomnia. Just because you take synthroid (thyroxine) doesn't mean you have to take them at nite. One shouldn't take calcium at the same time but you can take it a few hours later- try the prenatal with lunch. You might need T3 too- see http://tinyurl. Com/n4zmkro

Each morning before I take my synthroid I feel very bad and about 1 hr after taking it feel good. Why is that? Does it wear off by the morning?
Possibly, ..: Everyone metabolizes medications differently, and in your case, your symptoms are what they are, so it is possible the meds are waxing in the AM. Try talking to your Dr. And maybe taking the meds at Noon or even in the PM hours may help decrease the feeling you get in the AM. Best wishes. ...Read more

Can the generic for Synthroid (levothyroxine) be broken into 4? I take half one day and a half of a half the next.

Is there a difference between levothyroxine and synthroid? I was told to take name brand because it's better. I thought it was the same thing.
Synthroid (thyroxine) better: Synthroid is a brand name t4, levothyroxine is the name of the generic. Many studies have indicated the brand name is more reliable and consistent. However, your insurance company will probably want you to take the generic because it's cheaper. A yugo is cheaper than a cadillac, but they are both cars -- so they're the same thing -- right? ...Read more
Yes: Generic synthroid is called levothyroxine. Taking generic version is reasonable and will likely achivevsimilar results, however I would recommend that you inform your endocrinologist about such switch as you may need to have your thyroid levels checked soon (a few weeks) after making the switch to ensure your dosing is appropriate. I would also recommend that you adhere to one kind of preparation. ...Read more

Synthroid (thyroxine) vs NDT:
Synthroid (thyroxine) is not for everyone. Many feel much better with NDT (natural desiccated thyroid)... Armour, Westhroid, NatureThroid. I specialize in this and help people transition from synthetic to natural.
A good book to read is "Stop the Thyroid Madness, II" of which I authored Chapter 3.
