Hives: Hives are an allergic reaction. There are many possible causes of hives-foods, medications, infections, inflammatory or autoimmune conditions. Did you start any new meds, supplements, foods, etc? Recent onset hives, if there is no apparent cause, are treated with antihistamines. Hives lasting > 6 weeks need a workup to look for causes. Rule out alcohol: Flagyl can cause a build up of a toxic substance if taken with alcohol. The alcohol can be consumed or can be assimilated by hand washes, mouth washes, etc. The toxic build up would be my first guess as to the reason for the side effects noted. With a pharmacist or online you can search for known side effects of flagyl (metronidazole). ...Read more

If we were in the Zombie apocalypse and you had no other choice I would say go for it.
