Hives: Hives are an allergic reaction. There are many possible causes of hives-foods, medications, infections, inflammatory or autoimmune conditions. Did you start any new meds, supplements, foods, etc? Recent onset hives, if there is no apparent cause, are treated with antihistamines. Hives lasting > 6 weeks need a workup to look for causes. Please see your dermatologist right away for evaluation.

No significant: Medication interactions were noted when using a drug interaction checker. But that is never a 100% guarantee.

Can Flagyl cause hypertonicity & limbs/face numbness as side effect? Was also taking Percocet, benedryl, phenergan, (promethazine) synthroid, & klonopin w/no issue.

Can Flagyl cause hypertonicity & limbs/face numbness as side effect? Was also taking Percocet, benedryl, phenergan, (promethazine) synthroid, & klonopin w/no issue.

Rule out alcohol: Flagyl can cause a build up of a toxic substance if taken with alcohol. The alcohol can be consumed or can be assimilated by hand washes, mouth washes, etc. The toxic build up would be my first guess as to the reason for the side effects noted. With a pharmacist or online you can search for known side effects of flagyl (metronidazole).

Is it okay if to take 2 benadryls (diphenhydramine) and I melatonin?

Is it okay if to take 2 benadryls (diphenhydramine) and I melatonin?

Doses?: Depends on the dose of Benadryl (diphenhydramine). If you have insomnia, sleep hygiene is an often overlooked, yet more effective treatment, than medications. In addition, the combination of medications could impair decision making, cause undesired drowsiness, and other side effects. Speak with your doctor, before taking any combination of medications. Do not drive/operate heavy machinery under their influence.

Would it be ok to take Benadryl (diphenhydramine) that expired in 11/09?

Benadryl (diphenhydramine): Taking medication that expired almost 5 years ago is probably not a good idea. It may be safe, but I don't know for sure. If we were in the Zombie apocalypse and you had no other choice I would say go for it. But since generic diphenhydramine is cheap, why don't you make a trip to your local store and buy some new.

Can you take meloxicam and Benadryl together?

Can you take meloxicam and Benadryl together?

Should be ok if...: If a person had no problems taking meloxicam (Mobic) in the past for some medical condition, and separately had no problem taking diphenhydramine (Benadryl) in the past, then she should be ok taking the medications at the same time. If worried, she can ask her doctor who prescribed the meloxicam. Benadryl does cause drowsiness, so can be unsafe for certain activities such as driving or piloting.

Is it okay to take Benadryl on top of trazadone?

Increased sleepiness: Trazodone and benadryl are both medications that can be sedating. In general it would be safe to use them together with the caution that the sedating effects would be greater. It may be best to check with your physician to see if this is the right choice for you.

Would it be fine to take adderall with a benadryl?

Would it be fine to take adderall with a benadryl?

Talk 2 dr/pharmacist: There are no particular drug-drug interactions, but we don't know what other medications you are on, or what your other health issues are. Benadryl is mildly sedating and may antagonize some of the effects of adderall. An occasional benadryl for an allergic problem or insomnia is likely to be fine, while regular use of it may be a problem for you. Talk to your prescriber and/or your pharmacist.

Can I take Benadryl (diphenhydramine) with allegra?

Can I take Benadryl (diphenhydramine) with allegra?

Yes: You can take them together. If you are sensitive to the sedating effects of antihistamines, you should not take them at the same time. It would be better to take Allegra in the morning or afternoon and then Benadryl (diphenhydramine) in the evening before bed. However, if you don't feel sleepy after taking antihistamines, it would not be harmful to take them together.

Can I take Claritin with benadryl (diphenhydramine)?

Can I take Claritin with benadryl (diphenhydramine)?

Yes: Antihistamine is safe even with 4x the average daily dose. The major side effects would be dry mouth and drowsiness (the latter much less common if one uses the non-sedating type). I believe reactine is equivalent to Claritin (loratadine) in the us. Short answer- it is ok.

Cani take Benadryl (diphenhydramine) with loratadine?

Probably yes.: Many people report their 'daily' non-sedating antihistamine in the am does not provide relief until next am. So, if no concerns for gu/heart/bp/med-conflict issues, then they often take a 'sedating' antihistamine at night for continued symptom relief and 'bonus' of sleep aid effect.

Can you take Benadryl (diphenhydramine) with claritin?

Yes: There is no interaction. Since Claritin (loratadine) does not cause drowsiness side effects should not be a problem. However, if Claritin (loratadine) is not solving the problem, alternatives such as Allegra or zyrtec should be considered.
