Osmotic Laxative: Yes, it is OK to take Miralax daily.
There are different types of laxatives. Some are safer than others. It depends on how they work.
Saline laxatives
Stimulant laxtives-most bowel addicting
Stool softners- colace
Osmotic laxatives- This is Miralax type
If it becomes chronic or lasting more than 3 months, causing more symptoms I would consider finding out the cause of the constipation ...Read more

Is it okay to use miralax (polyethylene glycol) daily indefinitely? I'm 30, eat a healthy high fiber diet, but suffer from autonomic dysfunction.

Yes: Keep checking in with your doc and keep trying other non med things, like water, fiber, exercise, etc. Ultimately it's a decision

Enema/water: At this point I suggest that you try a Fleet's enema which you can buy at the pharmacy. Continue the miralax (polyethylene glycol) nightly. The colace is not likely to help much but adding a fiber supplement, walking daily for at least 30 minutes and drinking at least 3 liters of water daily could also help. If this does not work then you may need to see a doctor for a medical intervention. ...Read more

I've tried linzess trulance miralax psyllium and other fiber supplements diets my stool is still pencil thin. Is triphala safe?

Safe enough: Triphala is an herbal formula used in Aruvedic medicine often for bowel problems/relief of constipation. It consists of at least three plants; it is not clear what chemical is responsible for it's effects. I would be more skeptical that it would provide any benefit for you, if the other things you list have not, more than I would be worried it was unsafe. You could try it without expecting too much ...Read more

What to do about constipation in 3 year old? 3 year old doesn't want to use potty---holds it. Is taking miralax (polyethylene glycol) daily. Eats fiber bars. Doesn't like apple juice. Is constipated. Rectal suppository not working.

More miralax (polyethylene glycol): Talk to your doctor, but if she is still constipated on MiraLAX (polyethylene glycol) she may need a higher dose of miralax (polyethylene glycol). If she is eating fiber bars make sure she is drinking plenty of water. She should also sit on the toilet for at least 15 minutes after each meal. Doctor, it has been 8 days after my ACL surgery, and I haven't pooped. I have tried everything. Prune juice, fiber pills, stool softner, miralex. Help!?

Can I take 5 doses of Miralax if I am severely constipated?

Dose-dependent drug: Doctors define constipation as stools less frequently than once every 3-4 days. Patients feel they are "constipated" when passing hard or small volume stool, or they feel full & bloated. We can't tell from your question if this is a one-time problem or a recurrent and progressive one. Also, we don't know if you're blocked, if your gut is sluggish, or your rectum works correctly.
