Do I need to take prednisolone for bronchitis?

Do I need to take prednisolone for bronchitis?

Not necessarily....: Acute bronchitis is due to an infection of the airways, either from a viral or bacterial infection. Steroids, like prednisolone, would only be prescribed if you develop bronchospasm due to the airway inflammation. This would manifest as wheezing or coughing, especially coughing as the rest of your symptoms are improving. See your doctor for diagnosis/treatment if you suspect bronchospasm. ...Read more

Is it better to take prednisolone once or twice daily?

Personal issue: This is a long acting preparation & breaking up the dose doesn't change much in it's clinical effect. It is usually better to take in one dose just so you won't forget the 2nd. Some may find splitting it easier to get down, since even adults can be poor with this, but that is the only thing I can think of to do so. ...Read more

Losing weight: To lose weight, get ur resting metabolism rate done (weight loss centers do this). This determines the total number of calories you need to lose 1-2lbs/week. Decreasing 500cal/day will give you a 1lb wt loss in 1wk; drink water (1/2 your body weight), eat small meals about 150-200cal 2-4x/ (depending on your metabolism rate) and 500cal/meal at night: lean protein/veggies; avoid carbs, . ...Read more

I have IgA nephrophaty and now take 3 tab of prednisolone. At the same time, I breastfeed my baby3 months. Should I stop taking that medicine..

Talk 2 doc: You need to consult your nephrologist about this since medical treatment is based on risk/benefit ratio. If your risk of losing kidney function is high, you will need to consider abandoning breast- feeding which is good but not essential. Nonetheless, i'd not be too concerned if the Prednisone dose is 15 mg a day that the baby will get much of it. ...Read more
