I heard you shouldn't take fish oil with other vitamins, because it flushes the others out of your body. Is this true?

I heard you shouldn't take fish oil with other vitamins, because it flushes the others out of your body. Is this true?

No: Actually, some vitamins are absorbed better when taken with fat. These include a, e, d and k. Fish oil (good fat) has been shown to be helpful with blood pressure and cholesterol, have anti-inflamatory properties, and might be useful in brain health and function. I agree that the very best way to get most vitamins is through your diet. The exception is vitamin d, which is hard to get from food. ...Read more

Fish Oil (Definition)

Fish oils contain two active omega-3 fatty acids, dha and epa. Most fish oil products contain both dha and epa, but supplements enriched in dha or epa are available. Omega-3 fatty acids have been shown to significantly reduce sudden cardiac death. Some studies also indicate the potential for benefits in dementia and risk of heart attack. The omega-3 content of cold water ...Read more

If I take fish oil, prenatal, and multi vitamins daily along with a weight loss supplement, am I over doing it? Or am I okay?

If I take fish oil, prenatal, and multi vitamins daily along with a weight loss supplement, am I over doing it? Or am I okay?

Pregnancy: Take your prenatal vitamins. The rest are not necessary and the weight loss supplement could cause your baby harm. Be sure to get enough calcium - 1200 to 1500 mg. If not pregnant, a healthy and well balanced diet is the best source of nutrients and you can bank the money saved on vitamins. A multivitamin would be fine. ...Read more

If you have a fish allergy, can you take vitamins with fish oil?

Best to avoid: It may be safe, but it's best to avoid fish oil if you're allergic to fish. There are other ways to get omega-3 fatty acids from foods. Dr. Weill recommends fresh ground flax seed, walnuts, and walnut oil, although these omega-3 fatty acids aren't used by the body as efficiently as the ones in fish. ...Read more

Can I take these vitamins together: fish oil and calcium/magnesium with vit d and prenatal vitamins?

Some: The fish oil and prenatals are fine together. Ask your doctor how much calcium and vitamin d you need based on your diet. It may be worth getting a vitamin d level. Can u take prenatal vitamins also folic acid an fish oil at once?

Can u take prenatal vitamins also folic acid an fish oil at once?

Yes- a good idea!: Most prenatal vitamins contain Folic Acid but it is perfectly safe to take more. One third of the population have difficulty converting synthetic Folic Acid to its active form, l-5-methyltetrahydrofolate (folic acid) (l-5-mthf) so I advise taking that form of folate (folic acid) in addition to a prenatal to be safe.
Fish oil contains dha, essential for having a healthy child, so I strongly advise taking fish oil as well. ...Read more

I'm in my mid 30s and take vitamins such as calcium magnesium zinc and fish oil on a daily basis.  are there any potential risks?  is it safe?

Be careful with zinc: Zinc can be helpful in maintaining your healthy immune function, but too much zinc can actually decrease your immune function. Excess zinc can cause nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. It can also interfere with the absorption of other essential minerals, particularly magnesium and copper. A copper deficiency can inhibit the transport of iron in the body and result in anemia. The upper limit is 40mg/d. ...Read more

I've started this vitamin regime of fish oil folic acid and monolaurin if this clears up my HPV will I have to countiue to take these vitamins??

Unsure of regimen: I have not heard of this specific regimen. Monolaurin has been advertised to boost immune system, but I don't think this has been proven in studies and I don't know long term effects.
Regarding fish oil and folic acid, both of these supplements are good for overall health and I would continue these indefinitely at recommended doses. ...Read more

Can I take multivitamins, fiber supplements, fish oil, and biotin vitamins at the same time?

Yes, But Why?: It is generally safe to take these vitamins and supplements, or they would have been taken off the market. However, they are almost always totally useless unless you have a specific vitamin deficiency, and can be a danger. Irregular menses: Many women have irregular menses at some point. The length of your cycle as well as the flow of your menses may change based on stress levels, hormone levels, dietary and weight changes. I would keep a calendar with the days of your bleeding recorded as well as the flow description (heavy, light, etc). If your cycle does not return after a few more weeks, i'd seek a medical eval. ...Read more

If your sensitive to meds and vitamins, what dose of fish oil would you start off on? What is the lowest dose you can find?

Fish Oil: I'm not sure what you mean by sensitive, but in starting fish oil therapy, I would recommend a starting dose of 1, 250 or 1, 000 mg. Stay away from the double or triple strengths for now. Also, I would highly recommend selecting a brand that is highly purified and comes from fish caught as far to the north as possible. Begin by taking one capsule daily and always with a meal. ...Read more

Will taking vitamins make you nauseous (fish oil, b12, vitamin d)?

Will taking vitamins make you nauseous (fish oil, b12, vitamin d)?

Possibly: Some fish oils give a fishy aftertaste that might not be pleasant and cause some nausea. Some people get conditioning from taking pills that causes nausea before even taking the pills. They sell deodorized fish oils to diminish this effect. Doctors can also prescribe Lovaza which does not have this effect at all, but is an expensive option. Vitamin B12 and D generally cause no nausea. ...Read more
