Sometimes I tend to sleep too much during a day. I have to take several medications during the course of the day thyroxine, crestor, (rosuvastatin) metoprolol.?

I an on L-Thyroxine, Amlodipine, and Crestor (rosuvastatin). Can I take Omega and multimerals and multivitamins when I am on these?

Taking generic version is reasonable and will likely achivevsimilar results, however I would recommend that you inform your endocrinologist about such switch as you may need to have your thyroid levels checked soon (a few weeks) after making the switch to ensure your dosing is appropriate. Yes: Thyroxine is best absorbed into the body if it is taken on an empty stomach with no other medications or supplements, and you wait at least 40 min to eat. The alternative is to take it at least 2 hrs after you have eaten, and again wait 40 minutes before eating. You are always better off taking the thyroxine later in the day if you forgot to take it in the morning rather than skipping the dose. ...Read more
Weird question: Hi. If I understand, you mean what would happen if a person without hypothyroidism takes Synthroid (thyroxine)? If a non-hypothyroid person took a high enough dose, it would make the person hyperthyroid. A very low dose could be accommodated because the pituitary would adjust TSH secretion to adjust endogenous thyroid function downward to account for the added exogenous thyroid hormone. Thyroxine: If you take 88 mcg every other day, then your daily dose is 44 mcg/day. The pill doesn't come in 44 mcg so if we ever need this, we typically just go with the 50 mcg pill daioy instead. ...Read more
