Hello there good morning. I just want to ask that is it normal when the menstruation doesn't come for 1 or 2 months while taking the contraceptive pills?

Oral contraceptives: It's a little unusual, as most pills are cycled with at least some withdrawal bleed during the hormone free week. Consider a pregnancy test - it is very unlikely if you fave been taking the pills correctly - and check with your gynecologist or family doctor that you ARE taking the pills as directed. ...Read more

Hi
my menstruation cycle is a regular or irregular hi

.I was taking contraceptive pills 1 year and i off the pills in

It : It is normal for your period to fluctuate by a few days; the term regular versus irregular is confusing. I say this because a fluctuation of a few days is normal and therefore could be considered a regular period, yet since the days are not exact (i.E 28 day cycle) then this could be considered irregular. Semantics.
If you are a week or more late with your period repeat the pregnancy test.
Best of luck. ...Read more

Breakthrough bleed: Breakthrough bleeding (bleeding at the wrong time) is very common on birth control. It happens in about 1/3 of users. Its no big deal and usually self corrects over time. If you are not satisfied or it continues to happen then consider using a different birth control method. It is a common side effect and does not mean something is wrong or that the pill is not working. ...Read more

Im afraid to take birth control pills just to treat ny irregular periods & heavy menses. What are the other options to treat this complications?

Mirena (levonorgestrel) IUD: Most of the time irregular bleeding is due to hormones - which could be lack of ovulation or erratic ovulation. Birth control pills work very well for this. Other options include the Mirena (levonorgestrel) iud. Heavy periods can come from polyps or fibroids is the uterus, but you are likely too young for that. Recently every time I get my period I take contraceptive pills to stop them. I sometimes take a whole month worth in one day. Am I harming my ovaries?

Sounds like bad idea: Taking a whole month's supply of pills in just one day sounds like a bad idea (I'm sure you'll not find anyone to disagree). The ovaries react to changes in hormone levels, so hitting them with a whopping dose at one time sounds like a damaging proposition. The doctor can help... meaning it's time to make a follow-up appointment. ...Read more

Good day! is it true that when a woman is hepa positive, she can't take contraceptive/birth control pills?

Not necessarily: Hepatitis a, also called infectious hepatitis, is an acute inflammation of the liver caused by the hepatitis a virus. In the vast majority of cases a person will recover from this with no significant long term liver damage. One would absolutely not take ocp's during the acute infection, but once recovered it is acceptable to resume taking them with close monitoring of liver function. ...Read more

Have not missed any birth control pills and consistent with the time i take it each day how likely is it to become pregnant as the only contraceptive?

Unlikely: If taken properly and reliably birth control is a very effective means of reducing the chance of becoming pregnant (around a 1-3% failure rate). The common reasons for birth control 'failure' is being noncompliant with the medication or taking another medication that interferes with the birth control pill (some antibiotics for example reduce BC effectiveness). ...Read more

I take contraceptive pills and havent started the inactive pills, yet have had light bleeding and cramps after using the bathroom tonight

Oral bcp: The bcp's used today are very low dose, so any irregular taking of the active pill (even as little as a few hour difference from the day previous' time) may cause slight withdrawal bleeding. This is mostly just inconvenient, but next cycle, try taking them in the evening, within the same hour as the evening prior. Repeat light bleeding suggests trying another type of low dose bcp. ...Read more
