Can sudafed and Claritin (loratadine) be taken together?

Yes: Sudafed and plain Claritin (loratadine) can be taken together. Sudafed is a decongestant, and Claritin (loratadine) is an antihistamine. Use them wisely: Sudafed is a brand name of pseudoephedrine, a decongestant used to decrease nasal congestion and secretions. Claritin is a brand name for loratadine, an antihistaminic. Claritin-d is one brand name for the combination of these two medications. This combination of medications helps to reduce nasal allergy symptoms. My ears keep popping, I've tried Claritin (loratadine) and it haa not helped and cannot take Sudafed. What should I do to relieve the stufiness in my ears. ?

Follow-up needed: If you have history of environmental allergies the sinuses are usually congested also fluid could build up behind the tympanic membrane causing ears to be congested. I have been taking Claritin and sudafed pe together and doing a nasal spray my nose won't stop running help?

Try something else: Neither Claritin (loratadine) nor Sudafed should have enough anticholinergic effect to stop a runny nose if that is the primary problem. Chlorpheniramine is an older generation antihistamine that may help, but beware of warnings on the label. Sinus saline irrigation may help more than you'd think. Otherwise, need to discuss with a physician to better characterize your rhinitis to guide effective treatment ...Read more

I took Sudafed, Flonase and Afrin (oxymetazoline) but getting no relief for allergy congestion, can I take Claritin on top of the other meds?

I took Sudafed, Flonase and Afrin (oxymetazoline) but getting no relief for allergy congestion, can I take Claritin on top of the other meds?

Afrin (oxymetazoline)?: You need to see an expert to determine the cause of the congestion and confirm that it is related to allergy. If you have been taking Afrin (oxymetazoline) for more than 5 days consecutively, then the persistent congestion is most likely now caused by the Afrin (oxymetazoline) (it causes sensitization and "rebound congestion"). Claritin can be added safely, but it may not be effective if underlying issue not addressed ...Read more

Pseudoephe: Insomnia is a common side effect from pseudoephedrine and I have not recommended it use for at least a decade. Be sure to aim the Flonase towards the sides of the nose and not in the center and see if this works better. If not, time to see a doctor to see if you may have a sinus infection. ...Read more

Mixing sudafed 12hr, claritin-d 24hr, brondaid, triadalean once in a while sleeping aids test postive, is this okay?

Retire ; rise same time each day. Keep bedroom dark ; cool ; use only for sex ; sleep. Turn off tv. No naps. Exercise regularly but not in late evening. No caffeine for 6 hrs ; no alcohol or tobacco w/i 2 hrs of sleep. Keep. ...Read more

Which is best for coughing and runny nose (allergies) sudafed or Claritin (loratadine) or claritin-d?

Neither: If you are sure you are dealing with allergies, then an antihistamine is the drug of choice. Sudafed is a decongestant. Claritin is a weak antihistamine and despite the drug labelling can cause drowsiness as can zyrtec. Allegra (fexofenadine) does not cross the blood-brain barrier and thus no drowsiness. A nasal spray either steroid or non-steroid is also useful. ...Read more
