Ask your doc: Talk to your primary care doctor about it. There are conflicting reports about how much benefit daily, low dose aspirin provides. Don't be shy, and let your doctor know that you feel more comfortable taking it. Won't be a problem with the diverticulitis. Is there evidence Plavix (clopidogrel) (Clopidogrel) causes more incidents of GI bleeding than Aspirin? Also Have Diverticulitis.

Aspirin acts to prevent platelet adhesion and the mechanism for Plavix (clopidogrel) is through

Overall the incidence of bleeding would be greater with Plavix (clopidogrel).

Not good idea:
There are 2 reasons for kidney pain, infection and trauma (stone movement). In many cases there is a hemorrhage in the kidney (aspirin has anticoagulant effect). The kidney is a sensitive organ and easily gets destroyed.

Ultrasound: Aspirin won't hurt, but it won't dissolve a thrombus (clot) if that is what you have. You should see a doctor asap and get an ultrasound. If you do have a clot and it breaks free, it could travel to you lungs and cause serious problems (pulmonary embolus). ASA: If your an adult and take it with food and not repetitive 2 or 3 at once for pain is ok but most take one or two. Higher doses repetitively can lead to chronic overdosing with GI effects, ringin in the ears, dizzyness and even bleeding problems. ...Read more

One dose won't hurt, unless your stomach is already burned raw by too much alcohol, or you're allergic to it.
