Am on Ramipril 10mg and Amlodopine 5mg, can I safely take Ashwagandha supplement with these drugs please?

Should be ok...: Ashwagandha is frequently referred to as "Indian ginseng" and is an herb used in Ayurvedic healing. It belongs to the tomato family. It purports to relieve stress and promote good immunity. It reportedly interacts with immunosuppressant and sedating medications, not the anti-hypertensives you are taking. It should be safe to take, though as with all supplements, unproven as regards effectiveness. ...Read more

Is withania somnifera safe to take daily? (ashwagandha)

Is withania somnifera safe to take daily? (ashwagandha)

NothingPerfectlySafe: See: http://en. Wikipedia. Org/wiki/withania_somnifera. Nothing is perfectly safe. Our bodies are open systems; majority (~55-62%) is water ; we need water in ; out to stay alive; yet water can also kill us, e.g. Acute water intoxication; pulmonary edema (cannot breath), etc. The issues are always dose/unit time, both acute ; chronic changes in behavior ; tracking outcomes, called clinical trials. ...Read more

Can you tell me if I could take reishi, ashwagandha, bacopa, phosphatidylserine together?

Can you tell me if I could take reishi, ashwagandha, bacopa, phosphatidylserine together?

Why????: (sigh) Why are people so willing to do things to their bodies they'd NEVER do to their cars? If a fuel additive sold at Pep Boys had as little evidence of efficacy as these herbals, you'd NEVER trust it in your gas tank. Think critically. Be skeptical. Look at FACTS. Acquire some real knowledge. Don't get taken in by every traveling medicine show or snake-oil salesman that comes down the pike. ...Read more

If my son takes ashwagandha, will his height increase? He is 14 and his height is 5ft7. Have you ever seen increase in height with ashwagandha.

No: His height is determined by his genetic predisposition. This associated with his overall health, lack of injury to his growth centers and good overall nutrition. If he were to have a growth hormone deficiency his ultimate height could be affected by replacement of growth hormone. ...Read more

Taking ashwagandha 470 mg day/470 night for low cortisol-can I take small amount of lithium orotate for sleep?

Taking ashwagandha 470 mg day/470 night for low cortisol-can I take small amount of lithium orotate for sleep?

Probably OK but Why: I guess the easy answer is that it is probably safe. However I am not quite sure I understand why you are doing this. Lithium orotate is very low dose formulation of lithium (a medication used mostly for bipolar or manic depression) that is available over the counter. It seems like an unusual choice to help you sleep. ...Read more

Is it safe to take ashwagandha while taking my prescribed 50mgs of Vyvanse (lisdexamfetamine) 4 or 5 days a week if so what's a good dosage and routine of the ash thanks?

Is it safe to take ashwagandha while taking my prescribed 50mgs of Vyvanse (lisdexamfetamine) 4 or 5 days a week if so what's a good dosage and routine of the ash thanks?

Probably but no data: Ashwagandha interacts with CNS depressants (sedatives like sleep meds and benzodiazepines) and immunosuppressants (e.g., azathioprine and prednisone). There are no known interactions with vyvanse (lisdexamfetamine). Webmd notes dose of ashwagandha depends on age, health, and several other conditions and there is not enough scientific information to determine appropriate dose. Take care and be well. ...Read more

Hi, I take azathioprine for Crohn's and started taking ashwagandha supplement. Are there any contraindications? Thank you.

Possibly: Ashwagandha affects immune function but the immune system is complex & more research is needed. Some sites class it as an immune booster & caution that those with autoimmune disease should avoid it & warn about it theoretically interfering with the activity of drugs like azathioprine. Others state it may correct immune imbalances & help autoimmune issues. Basically no one knows for sure. See comment:. ...Read more

Is it safe to take ashwagandha with zoloft long term, for anxiety?

Is it safe to take ashwagandha with zoloft long term, for anxiety?

Talk to doc first.: There is not enough evidence to say whether it will help with anxiety. Ginseng interacts with lots of other medications. And may cause acute seritonin syndrome, a bad thing. So talk to your doc first! See:

I take 40 mg. Of citalopram daily. Can I take a supplement with ashwagandha, lion's mane, huperzine A, and Vit. D3?

You could: But that is an awful lot to start all at once. You wouldn't start 4 medications all together at once, I would not advise all those supplements at once either. Try to determine exactly what you expect each of these to do individually and then decide which seems most important to you and start that first. Get vita D levels before starting that one. ...Read more

Am 18yrs old, I want to increase my height so am going to take ashwagandha and homeopathy, my parents are tall, my growth rate has stopped at 15 why?,

Hard to say: The hormones that trigger puberty also push the final growth spurt and eventually cause the growth centers to close. A single x-ray of your wrist/hand can be evaluated for open growth centers. If they are open you can grow more, if closed, nothing you take is going to re-open them and permit more linear growth. If you stopped growing at 15 you are likely finished. ...Read more
