Can I Take Alive Well Take Amox Clav
Cat bite12 hrs ago on arm not puncture. Washed well + mycitracin. RX Augmentin, (amoxicillin and clavulanate) scared to take as spouse had cDiff infection month ago. Not swollen.
Cat bite: Cat bites get infected more often than not. The bacteria in cat's' mouths and their needle-like teeth almost insure that the bite will become infected. Just because your husband had C. diff doesn't necessarily mean that you will get it. My advice is to call the doctor who prescribed the Augmentin (amoxicillin and clavulanate) and tell him or her your concerns. Best wishes. ...Read more
Is augmentin (amoxicillin and clavulanate) (or the generic) 875 mg. A good medicine to take for sinus infections and what else can help, including over the counter. Thank you.?
Yes: Augmentin (amoxicillin and clavulanate) is a good, broad spectrum antibiotic for sinus infection- it is Amoxicillin and clavulanate which helps prevent resistant infections. You could use a decongestant (and or antihistimine) over the counter to help with symptoms (can be used at the same time). ...Read more
Yes: If the antibiotic was prescribed for a bacterial URI and there is associated congestion then decongestants are certainly ok and recommended for symptom control. I assume you are not allergic to any "cold" pills and don't have significant cardiac disease. If so consult your doctor before taking. ...Read more

Self treated at home w/ 3 leftover amox-clav that I had from last illness. Took last one at 8am. Went to Dr and he gave me azythromicin. Can I take hi?
You can take: The new antibiotic as long as you follow the intended duration of treatment and finish the antibiotics. You should not take the azithromycin within the 24 hours of the amox-clavulanate because they can both give serious GI side effects. I would wait until 8AM the following day to start the Azithromycin. Hope you feel better. Thanks for trusting in HealthTap. ...Read more
Yes: There are relatively few medications for which you should interrupt breastfeeding. It is important to balance the benefit of the medication against the risk of it getting into the baby. Can I take amoxicillin 250 and augmentin (amoxicillin and clavulanate) 375 instead of augmentin (amoxicillin and clavulanate) 625 mg?
Not the same: Since we have no idea why you would be taking the meds, we can not comment on whether this would be appropriate. These meds are not the same. Augmentin (amoxicillin and clavulanate) 625 has a specific amount of clavulanate that is paired with the amoxicillin, and they work as a team. Your substitution is not equivalent. ...Read more
