While training for a marathon on 20 mile run knee pain increased. Diagnosed with runners knee, cartilage loss possibly. Will this ever improve?

Not just Shoes...: Either shoe will do, but shoes are not the end all treatment for runners knee. There are many more things to consider before fixating on the shoe type. More important is whether you had, presently have or are in a preventive mode for the treatment of the problem. Stretch; avoid hills: I'm not sure exactly of your question but to avoid patellar and it band tendinitis make sure you take time to stretch before and after u run.Esp. The hamstring tendons and it band( back and outside of knee).Avoid hills if possible and use ice massage to your tender areas after a run. Consider trying a NSAID also. If no improvement w/ above....
