Sprained ankle five months ago and still doesn't feel well. I can't dance or run on it at all. What should I do to make it feel 100%? Is it too late?

See ORS: Residual pain and / or instability 5 months after an ankle sprain is not normal. See an ors for evaluation. Sometimes u may have a small 'chip' on your talus, 'scar tissue' forming in your ankle (impingement) or an incompletely healed ankle ligament. Exam, x-rays and MRI can differentiate. Good luck!

Should I run on a sprained ankle? What if I had a brace?

Should I run on a sprained ankle? What if I had a brace?

No: If you have significant pain, you should rest the area. Ankle braces to however help support the area by applying compression and restricting the range of motion. Consult with your physician whether or not you would benefit with using a brace with your type of injury.

Can you tell me about post mild ankle sprain, pain only when running?

Can you tell me about post mild ankle sprain, pain only when running?

See below: Running is and intense act with high impact to an already injured area. I would brace the ankle and use ice and compression after the run. You may want to curtail the time or distance of your run for now to allow the ankle to heal.

Have it re-evaluated: Ankle pain following and injury may last a long time. The pain may be due to a fracture, sprains, arthritis, or a soft tissue injury involving the tendon, ligaments or nerves. Have the foot evaluated so that you may get the appropriate care.

Could weight lifting or running/bicycling make an ankle sprain worse?

Could weight lifting or running/bicycling make an ankle sprain worse?

Yes!: If the sprain is not healed, yes. Particularly lower extremity weight training and running. Cycling can be an effective adjunct exercise for sprained ankles! Ask your doctor!

I sprained my ankle last night running. What's the healing time like for a sprained ankle? Should I go see a doctor?

I sprained my ankle last night running. What's the healing time like for a sprained ankle? Should I go see a doctor?

Ankle sprain: It depends on how severe your sprain was. In the meantime you should rest and elevate your ankle, apply ice and use an elastic bandage for compression.

About to have ankle debridement and bone fragments removed as result of ankle sprain last nov. Will I be able to return to distance running?

Running again: It is quite possible that you can run again. It would depend how you are doing after the debridement, and it may take some time, maybe a few months. So you may have to be patient.

Past March high ankle sprain. Hurts after 30sec of running. Hard to lift when running. Hurts horribly when walk on uneven spots. Cracks are painful.

Ankle Sprains: Recovery from an ankle sprain requires RICE therapy (Rest, Ice, Compression, and Elevation). Generally, complete avoidance of sports is recommended until pain free, and gradual return to regular activities as tolerated after that. High ankle sprains take longer to recover (6 weeks or longer), and may require additional interventions such as the use of a walking boot or physical therapy.

Go to the ER: This could be 'more' than a sprain, and now with a fever and vomiting, it has taken on a new level. Please go to an ER immediately, or call 911 for help.

Not normal.....: Your situation is not normal, but thank goodness it is not painful. The best thing you should do for yourself is to undergo a podiatric specialty evaluation or orthopedic evaluation in the very near future. Imaging studies (MRI) could be very helpful at seeing how the old Class II Ankle Sprain actually healed up two years ago.

What makes a sprained ankle better?

What makes a sprained ankle better?

Ankle sprain: To heal a sprained ankle, it depends on the severity of the sprain. If its a chronically sprained ankle with constant pain and instability, it will take longer than a mild outside sprain. Usually 3-4 weeks of rest, icing, antiinflammatory meds (like advil (ibuprofen) or motrin), bracing or compressing wraps, with or without physical therapy should the starting treatment. Hope that helped!

How do I properly wrap a sprained ankle?

How do I properly wrap a sprained ankle?

OTC ankle brace best: An over-the-counter ankle support brace (choice of elastic, lace-up, or combined) may be a better option unless you have access to a team trainer versed in the skill of taping ankles.
