Can peroxide mouth rinses remove plaque or prevent gum disease?

Can peroxide mouth rinses remove plaque or prevent gum disease?

Rinses don't reach: Gum disease is below the gum tissue. Rinses are good above the gum, but cannot reach beneath the gum tissue and even if they were directed below the gum tissue they would be flushed out by the fluid that forms there. You treat gum disease with a method like the perio protect method that delivers doctor selected medicines below the gum tissue where it controls the bacteria.

All three: All three can be used for dry mouth but the root cause of why you have a dry mouth should be checked if not already. Sjogrens disease can cause this very thing and can be treated. Good luck

Xylitol: Xylitol kills bacteria and bushing with it can help with dental health. I have see patients who brush and floss regularly but still have some gum disease make a marked improvement by using a xylitol containing toothpaste. You may have to get it at a health food store. Less than 1 tube should make a difference.

How likely are you to get gum disease or mouth cancer from smokeless tobacco?

Oral cancer: Smokeless tobacco can result in root exposure and subsequent loss of teeth. While this is characterized as gum disease, it's a bit different than the gum disease caused by bacteria - that most people think of when they think of gum disease. It's possible also to develop oral cancer from tobacco use. Early detection is critical here and can help you avoid serious consequences.

What is the best thing I can do if I think I have gum disease? I am a 25 year old woman who has had a recent onset of gum disease symptoms. For the past 2 weeks my gums have been bleeding every time I brush, horrible taste in my mouth, and after closer in

If: If you think you have gum disease the best thing you can do is see a dentist for an exam and cleaning. If you have not had your teeth cleaned in a while there is nothing over the counter or magic rinse that will solve the problem. You lack of dental insurance makes it even more important to see a dentist. The last thing you need is thousands of dollars of treatment because you let a small problem fester and become a large one. Most people spend some of their discretionary dollars on things they value (cigarettes, iphone, ipad etc, drinks with friends, concert tickets, cable tv etc.) don't let your lack of insurance lead you to neglecting your teeth. If you value them spend some money on them and protect them. Prevention is a great investment. The video in the link below shoes how gum disease progresses. long island periodontist best of luck.

What mouthwash is best for halitosis? I know it doesn't cure it, but I'm getting treatment for bad gum disease and need a way to control the halitosis until my mouth is healthy again. I'm looking for a mouthwash that will last more than an hour..

Treat the cause: Any mouthwash with ok as long as the cause of disease is treated. Use biotene (nonalcohol mouthwash)if your mouth is dry. Dry mucosa will cause bleeding as tissue is rubbing and thus the blood smell gives rise to halitosis.

Can you get hiv if spit from another person accidentally flew into your eye? What if he had a cut in his mouth/gum disease? I could not wash my eyes

Can you get hiv if spit from another person accidentally flew into your eye? What if he had a cut in his mouth/gum disease? I could not wash my eyes

No risk: This is one of those theoretical risks that has never been known to happen. Don't worry about it. Of course if you are otherwise at risk or concerned you could have HIV, get tested. But not because of this event.
