Can I Put Vicks In Humidifier
Not recommended: In the cool mist humidifiers which are recommended now, the vicks will just clog up the system. Hot steam vaporizers are not recommended around children at all due to the risk of burns. The vicks doesn't "cure" the cold, and isn't necessarily effective. Increased moisture in the air is the main thing that helps your child feel better. ...Read more

Where the aroma...: People who use the vicks menthol rub usually put a little where the aroma of menthol can mix with the air breathed in through the nose (which would mean on the upper lip or upper chest), to lessen the sensation of congestion. In recent years, people have moved away from using menthol this way because the ingredients can be irritating or harmful to children. ...Read more

My 4 month old baby is congested can I use Vicks vapor rub I use the Vicks vaporizer it helps sometimes
Probably.: My mother was a huge vicks fan; anytime my nose was close to running, i would get dipped in a huge vat of vicks, and then she would slide me into bed like a salami. And i'm still here, so i suppose it's okay. Whether or not it actually helped, or just made my mom feel better, is another question. I think the menthol probably does help, at least a little. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
Can I use the vapor steam liquid medication inside the warm steam vaporizer to clear my 5 month old chest congestion? Or should I use plain water.
I don't advise it: This product is marketed with the idea that stinky medicine smell is therapeutic. It replicates the aroma therapy indian tribes uses in sweat lodges with pine pitch. I don't recommend it for kids under 2 as the smell often aggravates congestion. ...Read more
Yes: This is a very nice way to improve the humidity and also help decongest a baby without giving them medications. Don't forget the baby can use nasal saline drops too if congested. No: Humidifiers are fine for replacing the moisture in your environment that is lost when the heat is on.They don't have to mist to be effective. It is part of the Furnace system in the North, where the heat is on for months but not in Texas. We actually advise against heated mist because the heater is a hazard, and all mist cools before it reaches you. ...Read more
My baby will be born end of January. Can I use vaporizer for him? Cool mist or steam? Humidifier or vaporizer, which are better?
Please don't: I consider vick's a fragrent air pollutant that causes many infants to get more congested.I discourage it under the age of six and have never actually recommended it for any kid. Mom used it on me & that is fine but hopefully decades later we learn to avoid some of the things they used without evidence to prove that it would help. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Never for that young: I consider Vicks & similar products an archaic folk medicine with no redeeming qualities foe infants. The stink can and does aggravate a cough as an airborne irritant. The product itself is a throwback to pine pitch used in sweat lodges used by the Indians. It is fine for school age & older that can cough effectively, just not babies. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
