My Daughter its 2 Weeks Old and has a Really bad cough can I Put a vaporizer in the room since she is to young to drink medicines?

Needs check up: A 2 week old baby should be sneezing and hiccupping, but not coughing. A vaporizer will help with a stuffy nose, but a bad cough in a small baby can be more serious. Bronchiolitis is a wheezing illness that needs to be seen by a doctor. An important sign of having trouble breathing is if she is not feeding well. When my 2 year old son cries a vein in his neck seems to bulge out? Is this normal? My doc seemed to fob it off when questioned.

Could be: When you cry you increase the pressure inside your chest cavity. That in turn makes it more difficult for blood to flow back to the heart from the head. Think by analogy if you were stepping on a garden hose there would be a "bulging" of the hose behind your foot. Now as to why he is crying so hard, I am not sure and you have to supply more information. ...Read more

Yes and no: Both these OCP have the same type estrogen and progestin hormone in them. The estrogen hormone does not cause acne. The progestin hormone may cause acne, depending on the type. The type in your daughters pill usually does not aggravate acne. I do not think there is really a better choice for her. ...Read more

My son never settles down and hardly listens. Tantrums have been horrible since 15 months. What are the signs/symptoms for add in a 2 year old?

Difficult dx: I am not an everyday expert in adhd. However, i don't think you can accurately diagnose adhd in a 2 yo. I have advice to decrease the likelihood of developing adhd. Turn off the tvs, computers, video games. Never allow your son to spend more than an hour a day in a room with any of those devices. Set aside time to read to him every day. Spend time outside with him every day. Have conversations. ...Read more

Temper tantrums: If your child has otherwise developed normally, temper tantrums are a very immature way toddlers asserts their independence and will. It will pass. The trick is not engaging in an argument with a 2 year old, changing his activity and distracting him work. They are also pushing limits. Be consistent so he eventually knows that when you say "no" it does not mean maybe. Firm loving limit setting. ...Read more

What might cause a two year old child to throw up and run a temperature 6 hours after lunch?

Many, many things: It could be something he ate. It could be a virus he caught from someone. It could be some other kind of infection that happens to be causing fever and vomiting. The bottom line in a child with fever and vomiting is that he need to stay hydrated. Give very small sips of liquid (1-2 teaspoons) frequently (every 5-10 minutes). This way, even if he vomits, some of that liquid will be absorbed. ...Read more

Proper dx/ shot: Kids whose illness or behavior means a predictable failure with oral meds can be treated for strep with a single shot of penicillin.A confirmatory test should always precede treatment. I have a 17 month old baby that throws a lot of tantrums. When we don't let him do something he throws himself to the floor and hits himself. What can I do to make him stop?

Terrible toddler: Assuming he's normal, his tantrums are not too unusual at this age. If you react when he throws one, you will reinforce it as acceptable behavior. The toddler is trying to sort out how to react to frustration or needs. Let him just wear out, walk away from it, being sure he is safe. Don't try to reason with him, because at that age it will be interpreted as acceptance of behavior. ...Read more
