Im visiting a friend and they live in another city, so if I have to go to the er. Does that ER have my records from my previous visits to my local er?

Not likely . . .: Unfortunately, hospitals & medical practices don't communicate very well w/each other. In one sense, it's good b/c it protects your privacy. But it certainly hampers your care when you're sick & need to get your records from one doc to another. So unless your friend's er is in the same practice/system eg kaiser as your local one, chances are it'll take a while to get your records transferred over. ...Read more

There : There are too many undergrad options to tell you which is best. Ut southwestern would be your only medical school and residency option if you can't leave dallas. The road to becoming an anesthesiologist (or any medical specialist, for that matter) is a long one, with a great deal of competition along the way. Limiting yourself to one single training option on the basis of a family is laudable, but may make it impossible to succeed. That being the case, if you are really restricted to dallas, you might want to broaden your horizon to include becoming an anesthetist. You can do this without going to medical school, which will shorten the training and may give you more options and/or opportunities to get into a program. ...Read more
