I ejaculated on my shorts in a cold environment and took them off for 12 hours, I put them on again, can sperm still have been alive after those 12hr?

Possible by unlikely: Sperm do not live long outside of the male body. In the female genital tract they can live for about 24 hours. Being in a cold environment makes it even less likely that a sperm survived. However, if your question is regarding whether or not it could possibly lead to a pregnancy, it is therhetically possible, but very very unlikely. There are millions of sperm in an ejaculate and only 1 is needed. ...Read more

Will I have to wear those blue socks on my feet after surgery or can I take my own designer ones?

Your choice: Not all of the "sox" provided by hospitals are blue, and none are mandatory after your surgery. But they are different from yours in that they have non-slip materials on the soles to minimize the risk of a fall - so they are a good idea. ...Read more

I have been getting these sores on my back for about 2 years, they don't itch but they hurt and leave scars and take a long time to heal/go away.

See a dermatologist: It is difficult to make a proper diagnosis since I am not there to see the condition. I recommend seeing a dermatologist so that they can make a proper diagnosis and give you something to get rid of the condition or relieve symptoms. ...Read more

The : The good news: women have been sleeping on floors for thousands of years. Despite being uncomfortable for you, it should not harm your unborn baby. The bad news: you may be sore in the morning and it's not safe to take Ibuprofen while pregnant - only tylenol (acetaminophen). I hope your bed comes soon! ...Read more

DR???: Did you go to ER or see a DR?? Shower or bath, rinse off daily. Any dirt ground into skin? Sounds like you will be grounded about a week. Keep lubricated. Vaseline or Aquaphor are good. I use Bioclusive or similar clear dressings on these with excellent results. Saran wrap is easy to use but does not breathe. Avoid antiseptics and topical antibiotics because they interfere with wound healing and c ...Read more

I self harmed 4-5 days ago, VERY LIGHTLY on my thighs and forearms, it BARELY drew blood. Will these scars go away soon or will they stay? Please help

They should heal: If the wounds are clean, they should heal without permanent scarring. But the bigger issue is why you self-harm. There are better ways to manage stress or relieve mental tension. Please get evaluated by a mental health professional (licensed therapist) if you don't already see one. Take care. ...Read more

I burnt my hand while making candy a couple days ago. How long should I wait to tan? Will being in the sun affect my burn?

I burnt my hand while making candy a couple days ago. How long should I wait to tan? Will being in the sun affect my burn?

Tanning?!: The recovery time for skin depends on how deep the burn was to begin with. If you developed blisters or lost a layer of skin it will take longer. I usually recommend being very careful (SPF 50 +/- covering up) for the whole next summer season. More importantly, what do you mean by tanning?! Intentionally exposing yourself to UV to get a tan is like wishing for wrinkles and skin cancer. Seriously. ...Read more

I used a benzoyl peroxide wash (2.5%, for 1st time) on my acne and now I have red patches. Will they fade away soon? And how can I get rid of them?

Stay the course: Keep doing this. The red will be less troublesome over time and you should get a good result with your acne. If you are not obviously better in a few weeks, your physician can add stronger medicine to supplement the benzoyl peroxide. ...Read more

I have white on my feet after taking off my shoes and they go away after 2 hrs, they don't hurt.

I have white on my feet after taking off my shoes and they go away after 2 hrs, they don't hurt.

Moisture problem: This sounds like your feet are sweating excessively causing your feet to wrinkle and get white like they do if you sit in the bath tub for too long. It is not a serious problem but it can lead to athlete's foot. Drying your feet, using baby powder in your socks and shoes, and changing your socks frequently can help. I recommend you see a podiatrist for evaluation, however. ...Read more

I have dark spots on my 2 toes and I'm leaving on Friday on vacation and want to wear sandals. How can I get it off ?

Paint Nail Plate?: You may have some bleeding under your nail plate if it is Black. If it is more of a yellow color, It could be fungus. If it is black and the toe is not tender, you will need to be patient an allow it to grow out. If it is yellow, then it is most likely a fungus. If the toe is not tender and you are simply concerned about appearance, then you may want to just paint the nail plate. H ...Read more

I got six stitches in my pinky finger on sunday morning from slicing my finger open while doing dishes. Will it leave a scar? When can I get them out?

How long will hydrocodone affect my breastmilk? I had surgery on my ACL and was prescribed 5mg. When will it be out of my system so i can breastfee?

Narcotic/breastfeed: You do not need to stop breast feeding if you are on small doses of hydrocodone. As long as your 24 hour intake is less than 30mg, there should be minimal effect on the baby - a little drowsiness may occur, not as vigorous feeding. However, if you really want no exposure and want to pump and dump, it will clear from your system and milk in 48 hours. I would keep nursing! (good luck with your knee). ...Read more

I've been on a long road trip and I had some makeup get into my eyes. I was unable to stop for many hours so I couldn't wash it. It burned. Damage?

Unlikely: Makeup ingredients have been tested before marketing and they have a massive test with the millions of users out there. A little in your eye is not different than almost everyone who at some time or other gets a little in their eye. As long as your vision is fine and the eye is not staying red, then you should do fine. ...Read more
