Generally, neurologists like to have patients be seizure-free and have normal eeg's for a few years before considering stopping medication. If you had only one seizure and normal mri, no cause found (called idiopathic epilepsy) your chances are good. 2 facets same diagno: Both terms are descriptions of epilepsy. Generalized Absence seizures, Petit mal, are one type of seizure. Photosensitive epilepsy means your seizures may be triggered by flashing or strobe lights. Those have been defined as intractable seizures. Cannabis products are more difficult to standardize as well as other FDA approved meds. Unlikely: That you have inherited a tendency to epilepsy from your mother is unlikely. For example, if she was ever knocked unconscious, that would be the most likely cause.
