Should I go to the ER now or wait until morning? I've had what feels like a UTI since Sat. Morning. Very painfulLittle clots of blood are coming out.
17 yrs old. I have a UTI. My mom thinks I should wait to go to the ER though I know im getting sicker. Should I go to ER on my own? I'm scared.
UTI: You could go to the ER, but they may not treat you because you are underage. Each state has different rules. By all means try to explain the gravity of the situation to your mother, so she can go with you ...Read more
Yes...maybe?: If you have a kidney stone and the pain is manageable, then you should be ok. However, if you think you might have an infection, then you should probably at least be seen at an urgent care center and have your urine checked. If there is an infection, then you would need antibiotics at the very minimum. More likely you would need to have any blockage from the kidney stone treated asap. ...Read more
Cant tell if its a UTI or my interstitial cystitis I had the pain since I had an IUD put in tuesday im in a lot if pain shud I go to the ER?
There is no relation between IUD and interstitial cystitis
interstitial cystitis is more common than we tthought, under diagnosed, because the right diagnosis will required a cystoscopy and a biopsy by a urologist.

Hello in went to birthright and tested positive then went to the er and tested negative and they said I have a uti will that affect my monthly I'm 6 days late....and I'm on time every month....do u have any input?
Check again in a week. If its still negative you are not pregnant, or miscarried a very early pregnancy.
You should know that Birthright is a biased anti-abortion clinic that exists to talk women out of having abortions. I wouldn't trust anything they said personally and would get advice at an actual doctor's office. ...Read more
I have a UTI and my left kidney is now killing me I have keflex 500 mg should I take that instead of going to the er. I've taken 2 keflex 500 mg today
See below: If you have a kidney infection (pyelonephritis) you need to see a doctor and get a urinalysis and urine culture. You may need a renal ultrasound to be sure you do not have an obstruction with hydronephosis or renal stones. The Keflex you took might interfere with the urine culture. ...Read more
Pain/burning near my chest but its on the lower left rib cage, what could it be? Could it be a uti? Just happened I have no insurance to go 2 the er: (
Possibly yes! Could:
Be a number of other things, as well, like:
pneumonia, pulled muscles off the ribs, a rib fracture, bruising of the chest wall,
pain from the back (spine), kidney, spleen or pancreas problems, etc, etc. Rarely a neuroma (a nerve lesion) in the skin.
You don't need to go the er but you should see your pcp or a free clinic to be evaluated.
Good luck. ...Read more
Taking cipro (ciprofloxacin) for uti. Painful urination gone but still having back pain. Should I go back to the dr or to the er?
Back pain, UTI: Probably not related to UTI. Could be as simple as back strain or muscle spasms or if pain more localized, severe and radiating in the groin consider the possibility of a stone. Especially in the absence of a fever. If you have not been seen and evaluated, I would recommend you see your PCP to determine the cause ...Read more
My partner gave me a UTI last month and started developing not so good symptoms so I was rushed to the ER. Is it possible that I contracted an STI?
Yes: Intercourse can increase the number and frequency of UTI's in women. It is also a way to contract a STD, but the two can happen separately of each other. Because you get one does not mean you automatically have the other. Your partner also did not give you a UTI (like a STD) unless they took germs and squirted them up your pee hole with a syringe. The sex act just makes it more likely to happen. ...Read more
I went to the ER last night and they said I have a uti. But it didn't burn when I pee. Is it supposed to burn when I pee?
Not always: There are possible symptoms for a UTI including dysuria (burning when you pee), polyuria (frequent urination), urinary hesitancy (difficulty starting to pee), incomplete voiding (feeling you have to pee again right after peeing), back pain, spasms, fever, nausea, etc. Any of these symptoms can occur. ...Read more
Visted the ER on 4/22/14 for an UTI & I got the medicine for a UTI & STDs & I would like to know why I still have burning and pain weeks later?
I went into the er and was told I had bv and a uti and was treated for that... now I have a white tissue like substance and pink discharge I'm on depo?
I still had UTI pain and went to the ER because bactrim didn't work. They switched to cipro (ciprofloxacin) because it helped me before and it's helping me now.?
Urine culture: Cipro (ciprofloxacin) should clear up most uti's. If symptoms persist, a urinalysis with microscopic exam and a urine culture and sensitivity should be done to see if there is a UTI and what bacteria is causing it. If there still is a bacterial infection present the study will show what antibiotic should be prescribed. A followup culture should be done after treatment to make sure the infection was cleared. ...Read more
I went to the ER bec I was feeling hot temp was 100.5 And I was cold. I am currently 3 months preg and they said I have an UTI. Today went to follow up and now they said there was no uti n trying to fight the uti got a yeast. Can I use monistat??
OB care started?: The ER is great for emergency care, but not so great for pregnant women with chronic care issues. Have you started seeing an OB MD for continuing prenatal care yet? If not, see one now who can address the UIT, yeast, and provide safe Rx for both if needed to protect your developing fetus. ...Read more
I've just been released from the er. Diagnosis severe UTI. I was given 2 tablets of pyridium (phenazopyridine). How long until I get some relief?
Depend...: Pyridium (phenazopyridine) is just a topical soothing agent, not an antibiotics, for the lining of bladder and urethra, which should exert its effectiveness right away but at unpredictable variable degree depending on the severity of infection and inflammation as well as personal tolerance. So, it is not for UTI, but as complementary agent to ease its related symptoms. ...Read more
I went to the Er a few months ago and they took a urine test and found that I had a Uti, if I had an std at the time would it show up?
I went to the ER last night and was diagnosed with a uti. I'm wondering why at the end of the urine stream does it burn? I'm taking peridium & cipro (ciprofloxacin).
Unique symptoms: Not all urinary tract infections are the same. I understand that you're being treated with Pyridium and the antibiotic Cipro (ciprofloxacin) -- but burning at the end of urination is very characteristic for uti's that respond to the homeopathic remedy sarsaparilla. Homeopaths attend to particular symptoms like this, in order to prescribe correctly. So, the reason you have what you have is because you're unique. ...Read more
I went to the er on yesterday and was diagnosed with a 3mm kidney stone and a uti. They gave me rocephin (ceftriaxone) by iv. How long will this take to clear up?
Difficult to say: How long an infection takes to clear varies with many factors including the antibiotic given. Passing a stone also difficult to predict. Drinking plenty of fluids does help. If after 7 days you still have symptoms then call your doctor to see if any adjustments have to be made. ...Read more
I went into the er for an iud. The er said you have an uti infection then they called and said that was wrong. All I did is cry. I have been married for 18 years so I don't know how this happened. Should I get a second opionon?
Yes: See an Ob/Gyn. The ER docs are good but they are not specialists in women's health. If there is some question about what you were told in the ER its a good idea to see your Ob/Gyn. Best wishes! ...Read more

Hopefully you went back to the er. For the future and for anyone reading this post, if you are given antibiotics for a severe infection and are unable to tolerate anything by mouth, compounded by pain that is 10/10 then this situation requires prompt medical attention.

It sounds like you suffered a "blown" vein from the iv. A vein could have possibly been nicked an eventually became "blown out" over time, which could result in your symptoms. Also consider a possible reaction from the tape that was used to keep the IV in place. It is unlikely a reaction from the levaquin, (levofloxacin) you would have had a more diffuse reaction (not localized to just one arm).
Hopefully you are better by now, if not see your doctor.
Take care. ...Read more
