Can I Give My Baby An Antiseptic Spray For His Sore Throat
No : Do NOT give honey to your 2 month old. Honey can be very dangerous in a child less than 1 year old. 2 month olds don't typically get sore throats and honey won't cure a stuffy nose. If your 2 month old is sick, they should be evaluated by a pediatrician. If they have a fever, they need to be seen urgently. ...Read moreSee 3 more doctor answers
I've had a fever of 101-104 for 3 days with sore throat stuffy nose and cough my dad won't take me to the hospital/doctor for anything and im scared!
Infection...: You most likely have an infection and, most of the time, these infections are viral and they will run their course and resolve on their own within 7-10 days. But, if your symptoms are getting worse, then you need to see a doctor because if a bacterial infection is present, you may need antibiotics. Is there another family member who can take you to a doctor, if necessary? How old are you? ...Read more

My 22lb 15 month old son has hand foot and mouth disease can I give him Benadryl (diphenhydramine) or can I rub a itch cream on it???
No itch cream: typically, hand, foot mouth disease is most worrisome because the oral lesions, and possible associated fever will cause a loss of appetite, and an increased risk of dehydration. the lesions are not usually itchy, and benadryl might not help at all. i would definitely avoid any topical creams, as they could be accidentally ingested. I would recommend tylenol (acetaminophen) at usual doses ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
Hi. Is it safe for me to use a benzocaine spray on my throat, as i'm breast feeding my 8 week old baby? Thanks.
Can you explain if it's possible to wash my mouth with diphen hydramin syrup to reduce my sore throat?
Yes: This gargle works: mix 3 teaspoons maalox liquid with 2 teaspoons Benadryl (diphenhydramine) liquid and one teaspoon chloraseptic spray (take the spray top off the spray bottle), . Gargle and swish well for at least a minute and spit out. You can repeat every few hours; don't swallow since you'll be loading up on benadryl (diphenhydramine). ...Read more
Yes, but won't help: Herpangina is a viral infection (coxsackie) resulting in painful oral ulcerations. The infection is contagious and resolves in 7-10 days. There is no effective treatment other than constitutional support: fluids, analgesics such as tylenol (acetaminophen) or ibuprofen, and rest. Betadine rinse would prevent secondary infection, but also would be irritating, exacerbating the condition and not killing the virus. ...Read more

Should I give my six-month old Benadryl (diphenhydramine) for a very bad cold? He can hardly breath through his nose and cannot heat.
It's not helpful.: Use saline nose drops and suction the mucus from the nose as often as needed. Also, elevate the head of the crib.If your doctor ok's it, use a humidifier in the room during sleep.Cold and cough meds are proven not to help and can cause severe side effects. If these actions don't help enough, he needs to see his doctor. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

My 7 month old has stuffy nose. What can I give her or do to help the stuffy nose and congestion? I am doing the saline spray/drop
?irritants?: The first months are troubled by narrow nasal passages & exposure to dust, fragrences, smoke & other irritants.Baby tries to flush these out of the nose with mucous but this often ends as congestion & produces rattling with breathing. The best rx is washing out the nose with saline & suctioning the remainder. Eliminate irritants from babies environment & this will happen less. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

What : What was the diagnosis? The medications they prescribed are for an infection, possibly an upper respiratory infection, and upset stomach. These medications will not be very effective against heartburn (gerd - reflux). Typically over the counter medication for reflux are Prilosec and zantac (ranitidine). You can try one of them, but if the symptoms last for more than a week then you should see your regular physician for a more complete history and exam. If the sore throat is due to an upper respiratory tract infection the there are a number of medications available at the major pharmacies. Ask the pharmacist for assistance. ...Read more
