Can I Get Pregnant On My Iud When Taking Antibiotics
If you have an iud, can you get pregnant when your boyfriend hugs you when you're both naked and there is no semen and no pre-cum present?
IUD great: ChristinaR--If you've had an IUD, chances are you've been sexually active before. Generally, hugging--even naked--won't allow for pregnancy. That being said, even in the most fertile of women, IUDs prevent 99% of pregnancy. So you should be safe...Remember, IUDs do not protect against sexually transmitted diseases, so be careful still!See 4 more doctor answers
When your due date arrives, you will be more than ready to have your baby! Most women deliver the baby somewhere between 37 and 42 weeks. According to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, only 5% of babies arrive on the exact due date. Approximately 7% of babies are not delivered by 42 weeks, and when that happens, it is referred to ...Read more
I'm on the Mirena (levonorgestrel) IUD and taking a antibiotic (Sulfamethoxazole). Can I get pregnant?
Mirena (levonorgestrel) IUD: No the antibiotics will not decrease the effectiveness of the Mirena (levonorgestrel). But like any contraceptive method, the IUD does have a low baseline rate of pregnancy. So yes you may get pregnant (very low risk) but if you do, it won't be because of the antibiotics.
Trying to conceive, but husband is taking antibiotics amoxycilin and dicloxacillin 250mg each. Will it affect sperms or pose prblms if I get pregnt?
Probably not...: What I have known and what I have reviewed and read failed to reveal any mention of their possible effect on spermatogenesis - sperm formation. So, I would say both have no concern on sperms. However, in reality, behind what we have known always still hides a lot of what we don't know. If still in doubt, ask his prescribing doctor.
Going to be tested for C diff after antibiotic use. If I end up being tx for it, is it okay to try for pregnancy next month? Recurrence risk? Worried!
C diff: If your treatment for c diff is successful as determined by follow-up stool culture and you feel healthy, I don't see why you shouldn't attempt to get pregnant. If you have to stay on medications, then you should ask your obgyn for advice on this matter.
Unlikely: Iuds are very effective presuming they have not reached their expiration, approximately 98 to 99% effective at preventing pregnancy. However, if you have reason to suspect that you might be pregnant because you were getting regular periods and are no longer doing so, check a pregnancy test. For more info www. Askyourgynecologist. Yes: IUDs are very reliable but no method of contraception is 100% effective. The progestin containing IUDs like Mirena (levonorgestrel) and Skyla can cause you to miss periods as can many things other than pregnancy but, if your period is late, do a pregnancy test and, if it is negative and your period still hasn't started, repeat it in 3-5 days to know for sure. Hope this helps.
Time to change: The manufacturer of Mirena (levonorgestrel) recommends removal after five years. We do know a "grace period" is built in knowing that some may keep in longer. A few studies have demonstrated that it is effective for longer than five years. Regardless, it should be removed and replaced if you are not ready to get pregnant. If you think you might be pregnant check then check a home pregnancy test.
Misinformed?: No vaginal or cervical discharge should be used to monitor any part of the menstrual cycle. These secretions are not in any way reliable markers of any part of the process.
Iud and pregnancy: Home pregnancy tests are accurate but not the best. They can be the first useful tool in diagnosing early pregnancy before you get to your doctor. Iud's do not influence or interfere with results of home pregnancy test or any pregnancy test at all.
