Can you get pregnant on your "inactive" week of birth control pills? I do not understand how you are protected during that week still.

Biology: That is the week your uterus is sloughing off its inner lining since no pregnancy occurred during ovulation 2 weeks earlier. No fertilized egg, no uterine lining = no pregnancy. You cannot become pregnant during menses. The fourth week of pills is to maintain consistency of dosing so you don't forget to take one when it counts. ...Read more

Pregnancy (Definition)

When your due date arrives, you will be more than ready to have your baby! Most women deliver the baby somewhere between 37 and 42 weeks. According to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, only 5% of babies arrive on the exact due date. Approximately 7% of babies are not delivered by 42 weeks, and when that happens, it is referred to ...Read more

My period started aug3 during the inactive pill. Yesterday I had sex, can I get pregnant coz I started the take 2 active pills 1hr ago before contact?

My period started aug3 during the inactive pill. Yesterday I had sex, can I get pregnant coz I started the take 2 active pills 1hr ago before contact?

Depends on why: It depends on why you started the bleeding. If it was because you had missed pills them there is some risk. If this is your first package or if you have an infection there is less risk. Taking 2 pills shortly before sex will not protect you but can help you get back on track if you missed one. If you miss pills, you should also use condoms for the rest of that package. ...Read more

I am in my second month on the pill. I got my period early both months. Can I get pregnant during placebo week (no period) and will this regulate?

Be persistent.: New start ocp users can experience irregular cycles, cramping, bloating, headaches, and nausea until ovulation is suppressed & then you'll notice just the opposite. Shorter cycles, more regular menses, none of the hormonal change side effects, & even improved skin. Until this, birth control is effective and continue your daily pill regardless of your menstrual irregularity. Take care. ...Read more

Risk of pregnancy during an inactive pill?

No change...: If a woman is consistently taking birth control pills (same time, every day), and doing fine on them, she won't ovulate. That means she has very little chance of pregnancy, and that chance doesn't change whether she is on the hormone pills or the inactive placebo pills. Can you get pregnant if you don't take the inactive pills on the pack?

Can you get pregnant if you don't take the inactive pills on the pack?

Sometimes, yes: The tri-phasic and 20 microgram estrogen pill types of oral contraceptives previously had very little tolerance for missing pills and some of them actually had a very small dosage of hormones in the "inactive" pills to facilitate the ensuing period. Thus, if a patient did not take the "inactive" pills and did not immediately re-start the active pills "on time" pregnancy resulted. ...Read more

Is it possible to get pregnant during the 22nd-28th day if using a 21 day contraceptive pill?

Is it possible to get pregnant during the 22nd-28th day if using a 21 day contraceptive pill?

Unlikely: Very unlikely. While no day in one's cycle is 100% 'safe' it's very unlikely on the days that you describe.... Especially if you haven't missed any pills. The chances of pregnancy when one uses the pill perfectly over the course of 1 year is around 4% or 4 out of 100 women will become pregnant on the pill using it perfectly. If you're worried, can always use a 2nd method like condom. Best luck. ...Read more

I’m in my fertility window and I’m on prenatal pills. I’ve been having unprotected intercourse during my fertility. How possible can I get pregnant?

Sure, it's possible: Fertile couples having sex in their "fertile window" have the possibility of getting pregnant. If they are young, healthy, and fertile, they often get pregnant within 4-5 months of steady sex. One can look at it as a 20-25% chance of getting pregnant each month... but what does that mean? Mathematical numbers have little meaning to an individual because she may be the lucky one or the unlucky one. ...Read more
