Can I Get A Filling Instead Of A Root Canal
You probably can,: But local anesthesia should be adequate. The more medications you take the higher the risk and required monitoring and time for them to wear off.See 6 more doctor answers
Yes and...: One of the main reasons rct fails is neglect if the remaining tooth structure. Oral exposure of the rc filling under leaking/failed dental work allows bacteria to recontaminate in as little as 48hrs. If the tooth needing treatment is broken down, I simply use a "50% rule". That is, if more than half the visible tooth is broken/decayed, you need a crown to support what remains--not a filling.See 4 more doctor answers
I just got a deep filling done and I'm having non stop pain for almost 2 days. Is this normal? How can I stop the pain? Do I need to get a root canal?
Not normal...: I would call the dentist's office. They understand your particulars and may assist you in problem-solving. Some potential problems may be that the filling could require some adjustment if it is too high, or the nerve within the tooth may be adversely affected. I would not jump to conclusions; I would discuss this and be evaluated by your dentist.See 3 more doctor answers
I need to know how do you get rid of the pain after a root canal is half way through with a temporary filling?
Toothache: How long ago did you have the first half of the root canal completed? If you are experiencing pain, then I would call your dentist and let them know. They might want to get you back in. They might be able to get your some pain meds. You might even need some antibiotics. Call you dentist and they will help you out. That's our job.See 1 more doctor answer
Hii sir. I have done with two sitting of root canal and my doctor have put a permanent filling. Can I smoke little weed before I get my permanent cap?
? unclear: I'm not clear on what your question is or why you are asking it? If a tooth is deemed hopeless it needs to be extracted. Many teeth can be saved with rct if restorable ; the long term prognosis is good. Once the tooth is extracted it's gone! And no other treatment is possible other than replacing it. It sounds like you need to discuss your situation with your own dentist as well as your options.See 3 more doctor answers
Old root canal without crown now has cavity. Should I opt for crown lengthening with filling and crown or pull it and get an implant?
Depends: It does depend on the strength of the tooth. Generally if a tooth has a root canal it had multiple fillings before this possibly a fracture -it is compromised already even after all the time and financial commitments of restoring, the chances of that tooth surviving 3 -5 years is not great. Then you are back to getting an implant. I try not to pay for things twice, but it is a decision between you.See 4 more doctor answers
The dentist told me that I need a root canal or i'll loose both of the teeth, the hole is between 2 teeth an is very sensitive can I get filling?
Trust, then proceed: Without actually being able to personally examine you and see x-rays of those teeth, no one over the internet can tell you what you should or shouldn't have done, and what would be the appropriate treatment or your options. Have your dentist explain to you what needs to be done and why. If you don't believe or trust him\her, find another dentist whom you do trust.See 3 more doctor answers
I heard getting root canal, makes the tooth weak during temporary filling stage. Does this mean I shouldn't lick around the teeth to get food out?
My dentist told me that tooth #18 needs a root canal;she put temp fillings on; Is it possible to get Invisalign without doing anything to that tooth?
No: No reputable Orthodontic Specialist will treat you unless and until all infections are brought under control first. Untreated infected tooth can damage adjacent test, bone, gums, can cause damage to other organ systems, and can even be life threatening. Please have any and all infections eliminated before starting tooth movement.See 5 more doctor answers
Abcess on a tooth. Retreated with a 2nd root canal and antibiotic. I still have temporary filling. Want to get pregnant asap. Can I start trying now?
Root canal half done, have a temp filling. Cant afford 2nd visit. Can I extract tooth if root canal incomplete? Can I get denture for bottom front tooth?
Root canal in november I got cleaning done and the dentist I went to he told me that I have cavaties in my bottom right 3 tooth... So I need to get filling done, week later he did the filling and he touch my wisdom tooth during that which got really badl
Get checked!: I believe you meant to say that now your wisdom tooth hurts badly. Maybe you have a cavity in the wisdom tooth as well? Sometimes these teeth are difficult to restore and are extracted. Other times, if its in an area that accessible, it can be filled or root canal can be done if necessary. Good luck.See 2 more doctor answers

Nerve involved: A filling in a tooth does just that...It replaces the part of the tooth lost by decay or that the dentist removed. Hopeful, there is no nerve involvement. Root canal is the removal of the nerve from the tooth because it is diseased or the space is needed to restore a tooth to usefulness. Also...Root canals are a lot more expensive.See 2 more doctor answers
No: It is normal to wear out some of the temporary filling. However, it is not good to have the temporary filling completely out. Once the inside of the tooth is exposed to contaminants like saliva, bacteria and food, root canal will become contaminated and eventually leak. Go back to your dentist right the way to have it checked.See 2 more doctor answers
Depends: If you have severe pain and swelling the need may be obvious. Otherwise it depends on the amount of decay present in the cavity, its's nearness to the pulp (nerve) of the tooth (if it's into the nerve you usually need rct) and the kind of symptoms you have (heat sensitivity usually means rct). It's up to your tooth, not the dentist or you!See 2 more doctor answers
