When your due date arrives, you will be more than ready to have your baby! Most women deliver the baby somewhere between 37 and 42 weeks. According to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, only 5% of babies arrive on the exact due date. Approximately 7% of babies are not delivered by 42 weeks, and when that happens, it is referred to ...Read more
I am a teen, and I weight 220lbs I want to start go jogging every day. Can I drink protein shakes in the same time? Does it help me lose weight?
Protein shakes: Protein shakes as a supplement to your diet will add protein and calories, so you should gain weight. Gaining weight and thickness though depends upon calories consumed versus calories burned. And you wish to gain muscle more than fat, so exercise wisely and avoid saturated fats in your diet. ...Read more
Is too much protein bad for your health? I drink protein shakes and I don't know whether too much is bad for my health.
Debatable: Too much protein can have adverse effects but it varies per person. There is controversy whether kidney damage may occur with excessive protein. One question to ask is whether large amounts of protein are necessary- the answer is typically "no." most active athletes need in the range of 0.6-1 gram/pound. So, if you weigh 200 pounds, then 120-200 grams is plenty. More than that serves no purpose. ...Read more

When I was about 2 I had a kidney stone due to calcium. I'm 17 now so if I drink protein shakes with 480mg of calcium, can I get one again?
Electrolyte status?: It is important to know more about why the original stone happened. Is there a metabolic error in how your calcium gets excreted in the urine, or concentrated in the bloodstream? Are there other concerns (i.e. renal disease, hyperparathyroidism) that affect your calcium balance? I would avoid any excess/supplemental calcium for now in favor of a regular balanced diet and more data from past PCPs. ...Read more
I'm a vegetarian and everytime I drink protein shakes, eat peanut butter or fruit I get shaky and light headed. What causes that?
Blood sugar/allergy: This is unusual. If these symptoms occur a couple hours after eating fruit it could be due to hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) but that would be unlikely after protein/fats. You may be allergic/sensitive to these foods (or at least one of the ingredients in the shake). If you are allergic to these foods it may be related to imbalances of intestinal flora. I advise seeing a holistic doctor. See comment:. ...Read more
Not all of them!: That is a vast generalization. Certainly some vegans drink protein shakes but many don't. There are plentiful sources of protein in a vegan diet- nuts, seeds & beans are the best sources, but even foods like kale, broccoli, avocados, potatoes & quinoa contain surprising amounts of protein, it's really not that difficult to get plenty of protein on a vegan diet! ...Read more
Whey protein: Whey protein is good for you but please do not rely on it as a way of replacing a good diet. The shakes can supplement the other protein, fat, and carbs you eat. Please check out the product to see if the whey comes from grass fed/free range cattle or penned up cattle w/antibiotics. Avoid the latter. One a day is ok. See doctor for your specific needs. Peace and good health. ...Read more

I hav a busy life working n school I'm on the go. Is it okay TO drink protein Shakes everyday since I only hav time to eat a small dinner at work?
No: Protein shakes should only replace 1 or 2 meals and be supplemented with real food. The calories are too low to be used for full meals on a continuous basis and even those that do are under the care of a medical professional for weight loss. You need to find time to prepare meals and refrigerate or freeze for later use (best) or buy pre-made meals. Good luck ...Read more
