Can I Drink Gatorade Before A Colonoscopy
Will drinking Gatorade help with leg pain and lower back pain after a colonoscopy ? Being that the prep depletes fluids in your body.
Maybe unrelated : Back and leg pain are not something typically related to the procedure, by if you're dehydrated from the prep, Gatorade can help rehydrate you, and possibly help alleviate our symptoms.bthey may however be unrelated. Its easy enough to try! Hope this helps. ...Read more
Yes: In fact, most facilities where colonoscopies are performed, will make sure that you can handle some liquids/solid food before you leave. ...Read more
Water and salts: Generally most colon preps are made of water and a mix of salts to both replace those expected to be washed out by the prep, but also to make it "neutral", so your body chemistry will not change much with the large volumes of fluid ingested. Substances to change the taste are also generally used too, although most peolpe still say it tastes terrible :(. ...Read more
I have a colonoscopy tomorrow at 1:30 pm. I'm unable to finish the last 32oz of golytley. Gagging)Can I finish the prep using mirilax and Gatorade? .
Almost equivalent: miralax (polyethylene glycol) is same ingredient of golytely, but mixing with gatorade would change the special salt/sugar balance of the lavage. making cold, or even squeezing a bit of lemon may take the unpleasant sea-water effect of golytely too. Equally important is what you have been eating before the lavage - no solids and definitely no roughage like fruits and veggies. See how clear stools are becoming. ...Read more
Can i go to a party after my colonoscopy? My procedure’s on friday morning and i want to go to a party that night. Is it safe for me to go? Can i drink?
Thanks for your question.
Generally we advise patients not to drive or operate any heavy machinery until the following day after a colonoscopy, because the medicines used to sedate you can cause cloudy thinking and altered judgment. There is no medical reason you couldn't go to a party if you are feeling up to it, but i would strongly suggest you go with a trusted friend who can drive you and stay with that friend for the duration of the party. Let him/her know that your judgment may be impaired so he/she can "look out" for you. I would suggest not drinking alcohol that night.
I hope this answers your question. Good luck! ...Read more
Probably yes: The usual dictum has been to remain on clear liquids the day before a colonoscopy exam. However, not uncommonly do we perform a colonoscopy on these patients and only find this out afterwards and usually the bowel preps are regarded as adequate. Please discuss this issue with your performing colonoscopist before doing so however. ...Read more
Clear liquids: Typical bowel prep instructions for a colonoscopy include a clear liquid diet the day prior to your colonoscopy or any oral liquid that you can see through. This includes water, apple juice, sports drinks, tea, black coffee, soda, etc. The key is to drink plenty of fluids during your bowel prep for your colonoscopy. ...Read more
Yes: Drink it all to be sure the prep is good. The worst would be to do "most" of the prep (which is absolutely no fun) but then get to the colonoscopy and it be inconclusive because it wasn't clear enough to see. Then you're back at square one, starting over! Good luck! No one likes the stuff. ...Read more

Probably not: If you were given any type of sedation - and the vast majority of persons having a colonoscopy are - then it is unlikely to have left your system yet. Having alcohol coudl prove deadly. Wait longer before drinking; you were probably given some written instructions about this when you departed the colonoscopy suite - read tehm carefully; and later on if you do drink - do so in moderation. ...Read more
Scotch anyone??: As long as its NOT mixed with anything (not sure why you would kill a good scotch with mixing it with something) you should be ok. It is a clear fluid - I would certainly NOT get drunk tonight as you will be given something to put you into twilight during the procedures. One glass should be ok - cheers ...Read more

I have a colonoscopy tomorrow and I had a cup of broth that was not completely see through and a cup of red gatorade today. Is that ok?
Maybe: That is not a good decision because it may hinder your gastroenterologist's ability to view all of your colon properly. However, inform your gastroenterologist so they are aware and can manage it or reschedule you. ...Read more
