I am scheduled for a colonoscopy . . .Is it ok to drink orange gatorade?

Yes: The day before the procedure, i believe they put you on a clear liquid diet while taking the cathartic. After midnight, they may put you off any food except water until after the procedure. So until the day before the procedure the gatorade of any flavor is ok. ...Read more

I am having a colonoscopy tomorrow at 7:30am. I am drinking the gatoraid/miralax but I am still not satisfied. Can I eat applesauce or pudding?

Colonoscopy: You probably have had your colonoscopy by now. Congrats! You did it. For future reference, you need to follow doctor's orders and not eat anything. It can confuse the doc doing the scope. He/she needs a clear field to visualize what the colon looks like inside. Peace and good health. ...Read more

What is the liquid you drink before a colonoscopy made from?

What is the liquid you drink before a colonoscopy made from?

Water and salts: Generally most colon preps are made of water and a mix of salts to both replace those expected to be washed out by the prep, but also to make it "neutral", so your body chemistry will not change much with the large volumes of fluid ingested. Substances to change the taste are also generally used too, although most peolpe still say it tastes terrible :(. ...Read more

I have a colonoscopy tomorrow at 1:30 pm. I'm unable to finish the last 32oz of golytley. Gagging)Can I finish the prep using mirilax and Gatorade? .

I have a colonoscopy tomorrow at 1:30 pm. I'm unable to finish the last 32oz of golytley. Gagging)Can I finish the prep using mirilax and Gatorade? .

Almost equivalent: miralax (polyethylene glycol) is same ingredient of golytely, but mixing with gatorade would change the special salt/sugar balance of the lavage. making cold, or even squeezing a bit of lemon may take the unpleasant sea-water effect of golytely too. Equally important is what you have been eating before the lavage - no solids and definitely no roughage like fruits and veggies. See how clear stools are becoming. ...Read more

Can i go to a party after my colonoscopy? My procedure’s on friday morning and i want to go to a party that night. Is it safe for me to go? Can i drink?

Can i go to a party after my colonoscopy? My procedure’s on friday morning and i want to go to a party that night. Is it safe for me to go? Can i drink?

Thanks : Thanks for your question. Generally we advise patients not to drive or operate any heavy machinery until the following day after a colonoscopy, because the medicines used to sedate you can cause cloudy thinking and altered judgment. There is no medical reason you couldn't go to a party if you are feeling up to it, but i would strongly suggest you go with a trusted friend who can drive you and stay with that friend for the duration of the party. Let him/her know that your judgment may be impaired so he/she can "look out" for you. I would suggest not drinking alcohol that night. I hope this answers your question. Good luck! ...Read more

Probably yes: The usual dictum has been to remain on clear liquids the day before a colonoscopy exam. Do I need to drink all of the prep for a colonoscopy? It makes me sick

Do I need to drink all of the prep for a colonoscopy? It makes me sick

Yes: Drink it all to be sure the prep is good. The worst would be to do "most" of the prep (which is absolutely no fun) but then get to the colonoscopy and it be inconclusive because it wasn't clear enough to see. Then you're back at square one, starting over! Good luck! No one likes the stuff. ...Read more
