It also comes across into babies system where one of it's breakdown products is formaldehyde, a chemical not so friendly for the brain. You list tuberculosis in your list of conditions, and if you are being treated for active Tb, or have a history of it, alcohol is NOT your friend. It reduces our ability to fight infections. Alcohol & antibiotic: If you are on antibiotics for an infection, that means your body needs help. Alcohol is actually a toxin- although we are not used to thinking of it that way.
