How long after a root canal can I start eating and drinking?

How long after a root canal can I start eating and drinking?

Eat after root canal: I would suggest that you wait to eat hard or semi-soft things until after you anesthesia has worn off. I would also caution doing any heavy biting or chewing on the root canaled tooth until you put a permanent restoration on the tooth. Root canaled teeth tend to become brittle over time, and you could end up damaging your tooth beyond repair. Root canaled teeth can be sore up to 3 days afterwards. ...Read more

Moderation: There aren't any clinical studies that show alcohol prevent antibiotics from working. However, you are much more likely to heal while you are healthy. A glass of wine won't hurt but use common sense. It would best to keep hydrated and make sure your body gets all the proper nutrition it needs to get healthy! Hope this helps! ...Read more

I just had a root canal yesterday. I got the temporary filling placed. Can i drink alcohol?

Likely Yes: If you don't have any pain, and have not been prescribed any antibiotics, you can drink alcohol. Just make sure that you stay away from biting on that tooth until you get the permanent restoration (crown). Specially, be careful if you have a few too many drinks and forget that you should not be biting on the tooth. Of course, it is not very healthy to have a few too many drinks ;-). ...Read more
