Can I still catch a STD even if I use a condom?

Can I still catch a STD even if I use a condom?

School for STDs: There are twelve common STDs. Condoms will prevent most of them. But, remember Herpes is caught skin to skin and if the infected part of the skin is not part of the penis or vagina or anus (Where ever you are inserting the condom covered penis) then you are at risk of catching herpes. HPV, the wart virus, is also thought to be small enough to pass through condoms and this is a risk as well. ...Read more

Can you tell me if my boyfriend and i are both virgins, and we used a condom, can we still catch STDs or HIV or any of those bad stuff?

Can you tell me if my boyfriend and i are both virgins, and we used a condom, can we still catch STDs or HIV or any of those bad stuff?

Define virgin: There are at least a dozen illnesses that can be passed during sexual contact. Some are more specific to sex, like HIV while others like hepatitis just use sex as a non traditional pathway. If you both have never had sex with anyone (oral, vaginal, other) regardless of gender, you are unlikely to pass a std. ...Read more

I'm a male. I had sex with a stranger (female). I use 3 condoms at one time, the sex lasted about 10 minutes. I'm paranoid! this occured monday night and it is now thursday. None of the condoms broke. What are my chances of still catching an STD from

Nearly zero: STD risk usually is low for any particular sexual exposure even with no condom. With one, virtually no risk for STDs transmitted by fluids (gonorrhea, chlamydia, HIV) and low risk for those passed skin to skin (syphilis, herpes, HPV). Rather than testing after a single exposure like this, consider routine periodic testing (e.g. yearly). Best to use only 1 condom. 2+ increases risk of breakage. ...Read more

No clear answer...: There has been no known studies specifically designed & done to address your concerns after your described profile of sex; so, no answer could be deduced. If you has any complaints days later and you should see your Gyn. Hope you learn a lesson and be careful with your choice. ...Read more

Can I get an STD with a condom?

Possibly: But the odds are dramatically reduced compared to no condom. Warts can appear at the base of the penis where the condom did not cover for example. Urethral infection with organisms such as gonorrhea and chlamydia are less likely to be contracted unless the integrity of the condom was compromised. Abstinence is the only certain way to avoid std, but condom use is the next best thing. ...Read more
