You : You could be having a reaction to whatever was put on the wound yesterday, but the first thing i would be concerned about is it becoming infected. Infection would cause swelling, and in the presence of a compression dressing, this would certainly increase your pain on top of the usual pain from an infection. If your doctor has office hours today, i would recommend you go there and wait, because he really must see you today. If he has no hours, call his office and let them know you're going to the er, preferably at the same hospital he or she is doing surgery today, so he or she can pop down to the er between cases and have a look. Good luck. Hope this helped. ...Read more

Crush : Crush injuries are very devastating to tissue. The fracture is only half of it. The damage to the soft tissues (nerves, blood vessels, tendons and ligaments) can be significant and permanent. Without seeing you, i can't tell you when you'll be able to walk unassisted again. This is a question best asked your surgeon. Good luck! ...Read more

I fell and hit my leg against the cupboard i fell from i applied ice pack immediately but now a small area next to the gash is numb, why?

Unrelated: If you remember that the nerves in the skin run in all directions including across the area that is now your open wound. In addition, there is inflammation of healing (red, hot, swollen and tender) that may involve that nerve. Plus, the trauma may have cut or otherwise damaged that nerve. The good news is that skin nerves usually resolve and return to function depending on the injury severity. ...Read more
