I was told that my blood sugar was low yrs ago but wasn't formerly diagnosed. Now is hypothyroid why do I feel so sick after eating sugary foods?
High glycemic index: Very sugary foods tend to have a high glycemic index. This increases your blood sugar rapidly. Your body then reacts by releasing Insulin and you get a rapid drop in your blood sugar as glucose is moved out of the blood stream. Those fluctuations feel bad. Read about the glycemic index and try to eat foods that have a lower glycemic index and often this will help with hypoglycemia. Read more

Often, fasting glucose is not affected, but glucose may increase more after a meal (i.e. Impaired glucose tolerance). All this should improve when the thyroid is treated, unless you are also developing diabetes. Read more
