My thyroid was hypo then turned hyper when my levothyroxine dose was upped. I noticed I feel better as hyperthyroid. Thoughts?

Probably too much: The way that's monitored is by following the TSH (Thyroid Stimulating Hormone) from your pituitary gland at the base of your brain. If it detects too much thyroid hormone (either from you or outside, it says don't make any more; if it detects too little it rises in value and says make more). Easy!
