No doubt. Asbestos exposure - especially long term - causes mesothelioma. It is not safe and harms health in many ways, but there is no established connection to any of the thyroid cancers. Here's a related link: http://scottieleemeyers.Com/2012/01/05/post-office-employees-battle-thyroid-cancer/

Not usually. : Thyroid cancer grows outside of the windpipe and therefore almost never causes a productive cough. However, in the extremely rare event that it invades the windpipe this could result in a productive, possibly bloood tinged cough. Other possible causes of a cough could be if the cancer invades the nerve to the vocal cord which helps protect from aspiration. ...Read more
Yes and No.: Thyroid Cancer itself does not cause hypothyroidism or symptoms of hypothyroidism. Most people with thyroid cancer will have NO symptoms at all; some may have a lump in the lower neck, trouble swallowing, or hoarseness. Treatment for thyroid cancer (surgery to remove the thyroid) will cause hypothyroidism, but with proper treatment, there should be no symptoms. ...Read more
Not in humans: Hi. In rodents, Victoza (liraglutide) (and all GLP-1 receptor agonists) can cause C-cell hyperplasia and MEDULLARY thyroid cancer (MTC), NOT regular thyroid cancer (papillary or follicular); ergo the black box warning. MTC is a VERY rare form of thyroid cancer seen in a few genetic syndromes and vanishingly rarely sporadically outside of those syndromes. In humans, there are no data the GLP-1's do that. ...Read more

I'd be very shocked: Ask the doctor who prescribed it to take some time to explain & discuss the side effects possible. One possible side effect is swelling in the throat and i suppose you might be interpreting such an effect as thyroid. It is probably not, but ask and if necessary, they can run lab tests. Good luck. ...Read more

No.: Sweet 'n' low, which is made from saccharin, has never been shown to cause thyroid cancer, in man or in animals. There was some concern in the past that it can cause another type of cancer at very high doses in animal studies, but this was apparently disproven in primates and in fact saccharin has been removed as a potential carcinogen in several government lists. ...Read more
No Simple Answer: It is likely due to a combination of genetic and environmental factors, both of which are not well understood at this time. In most patients, we do not know why they developed thyroid cancer. In occasional cases, the cause can be traced back to something specific (i.e. Prior exposure to radiation therapy to the neck or to other sources of radiation). ...Read more
What can cause TSH levels to rise when taking the same dose of medication for months, with a history of thyroid cancer and no thyroid?
Might need more: Tsh is made by your body to stimulate your thyroid to produce hormones. Tsh stimulates thyroid cancer, too, so the medicine you take is to keep your TSH level as low as possible. The fact that your TSH has risen might be a sign that you need to take a higher dose of your medication. This is something you should ask your doctor about! ...Read more
How can thyroid cancer cause wheezing? I read somewhere about it and I'm confused. I thought wheezing comes from the lungs.
Compressed trachea: In the late stages, before it actually strangles you, a neglected or inoperable thyroid cancer will cause narrowing of the trachea (windpipe). You'll hear the breathing sounds through the narrowed tube and if someone wishes to call this wheezing, it's just a minor error. If you have any concerns that you have thyroid cancer, please get seen. Best wishes. ...Read more
Jugular lymph node enlargement up to 2.6cm, post TT/thyroid cancer 2012, RAI scan clear, thyroid bed clear, not sick, what's the cause?
In July my THS was 1.54 ,in August 0.14 on dosage of 137 mcg Synthroid (thyroxine).T4 free 37pmol/L Thyroid cancer No RAI
I dont'n know what cause this big change?
in the "low" TSH "range" there is not a lot of difference in those values. You indicate that thyroid medication is being given for a thyroid cancer of some kind and that RAI has not been given. I therefore "assume that your Physician (?Endocrinologist) is trying to SURPRESS your TSH (thus the 0.14 is BETTER than the 1.54 readings!!
SO IT'S NOT REALLY A "BIG CHANGE " and in fact is BETTER..!!!

I was very over stimulated on IVF drugs, and oestrogen through the roof. Could this have caused my thyroid cancer? Lump appeared after ivf.
What causes TSH fluctuations? Sometimes its normal and sometimes its high (7 or 4.5). My mom had thyroid cancer in her 30s. I also have anxiety.
? early hypothyroid: Both the laboratory tests and the human body have some variability. People do not generally have symptoms of hypothyroidism unless the TSH is above 10, so numbers that vary between 4.5 and 7 may indicate pre-clinical hypothyroidism or normal variation. Younger people tend to have TSH values more like 2, and values like 5-7 are normal in elderly. Your labs doNOT indicate Cancer, nor rule it out ...Read more
Had 2 CT head scans without contrast in 2 months. 29 yo. Could this cause thyroid cancer? Is thyroid exposed during scan? Tech said no. Beg to differ.
No worries: A couple of head CT scans does not cause brain cancer, eye cancer, nose cancer, throat cancer, ear cancer, neck cancer, thyroid cancer, or any other cancer. No worries. That said, a head CT is sometimes used to look for a cancer tumor. That means although a head CT does not cause cancer, the scan can cause you to find the cancer you were looking for, if you were suspecting and looking for a tumor. ...Read more
If seroquel and Abilify (aripiprazole) cause enlarged thyroid cancer will my doctor put me on another one?
Not Cancer: It is unusual for those medications to cause an underactive thyroid. There is some thought that it may be a temporary problem eventually going back to normal. However, the option of treating the underactive thyroid with thyroid hormone replacement may be a consideration for the physician if these psych meds are the best options for the patient's initial problem. Thyroid cancer is different. ...Read more
