I : I think you are referring to hsv (herpes simplex virus) type 2. This type usually affects the genitals but can be found in other locations. This is a very tricky virus, meaning one could have been exposed to it, contracted it and never had a herpes outbreak. Therefore it is very hard to determine when it was contracted. If you have tested negative (blood test) for hsv type 2 then there is no way you gave it to him.
