Please call your OB: You must ask this to your OB as your OB knows what is going on with you , what meds you are on and what is causing the infection, but if you are feeling worse that would be a reason to call as if you were my pt i would have you evaluated in the er since office most likely closed until tuesday as you may need IV meds instead of i assume the oral meds u are on now, so please call today. ...Read more

Iron deficiency: Yes and no. If the lady has low iron stores which is the case in 50% of young women then periods which if heavy can further stress the iron stores and contribute to further iron deficiency and anemia down the road . If some one has adequate iron stores then periods per se should not cause low iron levels . But anemia or iron deficiency is what I suspect here. Iron supplementation may be needed. ...Read more

Further, most teen girls don't get enough iron in their diet to overcome the monthly loss of blod, so those two things combined complicate things even more. Hysterectomy : Would eradicate your periods. Ablation should be considered because it has fewer risks. I would not recommend removal of your ovaries. I think this might make anxiety worse since you can't take hormones. ...Read more

Sometimes low Progesterone levels are the cause of severe pms and irritability/anxiety.
