Sometimes your: colon and intestine secrete some mucous. If this is too much this is not a desired condition. But mucousy stools are usually associated more with diarrhea then constipation. Are you getting enough fiber in your diet? Does anybody else in your family have colon problems? Have you taken a lot of antibiotics? Can mild constipation (going 3x per wk) cause fecal odor that's bad in public/when stressed but better at rest? Other cause? Have veg & water in diet.
Possibly: Try eating unpasteurized yogurt three times a day or taking a probiotic and adding some otc fiber additive to take daily. This will bulk up the stool, and change the nature of bacteria in gut which will alter the odor. If this does not work see a GI doctor.
