No one knows...: ...For sure what causes them or why they hurt, though they frequently afflict people who are fatigued or stressed out or who have poor diets. People taking certain drugs for rheumatoid arthritis may be more prone to developing them. And heredity is a factor, too. Prevent them by eating well, get plenty of sleep, and avoid citrus fruits, which seem to be particularly good at causing them.See 1 more doctor answer
Stress & mouth sores: The reason stress can cause mouth sores is that stress can cause a decrease in your immune system. This in turn can cause different types of problems like apthous ulcers, or stress ulcers to arise in your mouth. Other lesions like herpes simplex, or canker sores on the lips also will arise because the virus causing the lesion is left unchecked by the decrease in the immune system.See 4 more doctor answers
I have 2 mouth ulcers and wondered what causes them and what is best for getting rid of them and numbing them?
Colgate Orabase: With Benzocaine will "numb" the area and protect it too. Apply with a clean finger or q-tip. Do not use if you are allergic to any of the ingredients. If you get canker sores frequently, try using a toothpaste without sodium lauryl sulfate (sls) such as fluoridex without sls. See your dentist too

Are peptic ulcers, the same as ulcerative colitis as far as treatments (cures). And can ulcerative colitis also be caused by h pylori?
No.: Peptic ulcers are related to acid disorder in your stomach, and are not the same as ulcerative colitis, which is inflammatory bowel disease. While peptic ulcers can be caused by h. Pylori, I have never heard uc is caused by or related to that infection. If you are having such symptoms, you need to discuss them with your own physician or a gastroenterologist.See 1 more doctor answer

Mouth ulcers: Mouth ulcers are cause by many, many things, so I suspect that they could be caused by some sediment in your water, although I'm not aware of any specific sediment that might contribute to mouth ulcers. Perhaps you should consider filtering your water if it has visible sediments in it, i.e., brita or some other commercially available water filter.
Possible: First, there are many kinds of "mouth ulcers" and each one has different causes. It's best to consult with a dentist if you have one that does not go away or get them frequently. Listerine can be irritating to the soft tissues of the mouth and may be a contributing factor. Short of that, you can run your own test by stopping it, then resuming it. See if the ulcers coincide with its use.See 2 more doctor answers
