Burning tongue sensation? Also joint and muscle pain everwhere. H.pylori diagnosed a month ago, treated 3 weeks ago. Could I be missing nutrients causing muscle and joint pain, dizziness, burnt tong?
Burning tongue: If part of your treatment for h. Pylori included biaxin, (clarithromycin) this is a possible cause of the burning tongue discomfort. Try bathing your tongue with maalox or apply glyoxide drops to it. In addition, take mutivitamin and extra vitamin B 12. If symptoms persist, see your physician who will order appropriate blood tests. ...Read more
I have acid relfux (acid coming up). PPIs (Prilosec, Nexium, and Prevacid) give dizziness and swelling in my throat. Doc won't put me on prescription. Zantac and Pepcid isn't strong enough. No h.pylori. Should I take ppi regardless of side effects?
Reflux: Have you tried strict dietary measures like avoidance of caffeine, alcohol, nicotine, spices, and greasy foods which can loosen the sphincter or valve between the stomach contents and esophagus? You could try taking gaviscon as a preventative of gerd. Sometimes symptoms are not due to acid reflux but due to bile reflux which doesn't respond to ppi's or zantac (ranitidine). ...Read more

Probably not: Globus sensation can be caused by several different possibilities. Gastroesophageal reflux is a common cause, however, h pylori gastritis is not. I would treat the gerd aggressively and see if the globus sensation improves. I recommend that patients undergo an egd (stomach scope) to rule out any underlying conditions such as a peptic ulcer, esophagitis or hiatal hernia. ...Read more
